The BASTARD BROTHER of What are you playing?
Recently gave up on:
Deus Ex: Human Revolution:
Second city is boring, promise of more bad boss fights = lame- hate stealth and how its kind of a pain to find someone to sell me ammo for my weapons. 14 hours in- fuck it.
El Shaddai:
It's pretty n all, but I either underestimated the repetitive quality of its level design, or it was understated by reviewers. Either way- fail. Prolly 2 hours in max.
-
this is a thread i can get behind!!!
-
I recently sent El Shaddai and Catherine to the burn bin. Better luck next time, Japanese devs.
-
I still like Catherine- at least what they set out to do is executed fairly well- El Shaddai was really all style no substance- that and listening to lucifel talk to god on a cell phone was obnoxious.
-
LA Noire. Bye-bye, birdie.
It's rare for me to give up on a game, and super rare for me to not like an Open World Game -- and even more so a Rockstar game. But I'm so, so done with LA Snore.
-
Dead Island
Close to the end, but I'm kind of burned out on it now. Too little variety to keep things fresh post-20+ hours, but I would definitely be interested in a sequel [which seems likely given that it's sold pretty well and is the publisher's best selling titles].
On another note, the second city in Deus Ex is awesome. SMH, MAF.
-
LA Noire petered out a while ago. So did Duke Nukem Forever. Ms Splosion Man kinda did too, unfortunately. I was really looking forward to that game but I did not enjoy the changes in level structure.

Its just so big and there's so little to do. Almost every NPC says something about not knowing english MOST doors lead to closets with a credit card sitting on a shelf- its just feels like they forgot to ship some quests when you compare the size of detroid and the quests/quest npc coverage from the first phase of the game. Fell flat for me.
-
Demon's Souls
distinguished mentally-challenged game made one level almost impossible to beat after I died twice while using a power-up to extend the lifebar.
-
PC Gaming - always second nature to the more comfortable and socially acceptable xbox, its library lacks immensely towards what the home console provides. buh-bye.
-
Handheld Gaming
shit games, shit graphics, shit sound, shit control, shit gimmicks, shit pricing

I just thought everything about it was awesome: the designs, the narrow walkways on multiple levels, and the nightclub and pod garden. I liked the sidequests too, especially Shanghai Justice and Rotten Business.
-
I did both of those, but the area is so huge and those are such small parts of the area. it feels lifeless compared to detroit.
-
western gaming. I can't take another fucking super-linear "AAA" shooter with cover mechanics and red shit that smears all over your screen when you get hit.
-
Buying games at release, for the most part.
-
MAF's a dudebro now. He just wanna shoot things up.
-
Also LA Noire, fuck that movie.
-
I'm close to giving up on El Shaddai as well, but I'll probably force myself through it until I get the 1000 and send it back to gamefly. Same goes for Duke Nukem Forever. Both games are shit, I can't be bothered playing them.
I've pretty much given up on all non-competitive/skill-based games though. I'm bored of everything else.
-

This. But I'm still getting Uncharted 3.

That must be it. Couldn't be that Deus Ex isn't ACTUALLY GOTY material ;)
-
Lego Star Wars 3 sucked

Play Deus Ex: Human Revolution.
-
LA NOIRE
MORTAL KOMBAT
KILLZONE 3
DRAGON AGE 2
-
Console Gaming - Generic shooters galore and $60 for P2P online gaming. No thanks.
-
console gaming
-
console gaming, for a little while, at least (since my 360 died)
-
console gaming. PC 4 lyfe
-
SMT Devil Summoner. Why did I buy this shit? It's just nonstop grindan
-
LA Noire: boring BORING BORING
Splatterhouse: didn't seem like any reason to continue after like an hour or two
those are the only two games in recent memories that I stopped playing
Competitive multiplayer games that aren't Battlefield 3
Buying games just 'cause that inevitably rot in my backlog, unless they're cheap
Franchise games that I might like but know I wont play but bought kept up with in the past because maybe the stove won't be hot this time and I'll actually get into Mario Kart or Forza
-
I like this thread
Buying games at release, for the most part.
Me too. Traded some games for Saints Row 3. There's only so much shit you can play at once, and you know that everything that bombs this Q4 is going to be half price within 3 months. The joys of companies stupidly fighting over the same 1inch piece of turf.
Also playing old games :bow2
There's no point buying them at launch unless you're desperate for some fractured, unfinished, buggy multiplayer experience in a game that doesn't need it. And if that's really what you want, I'm sure Brink is like $5 now.
-
Persona 2 PSP
i liked the psx version part 2 because of it's original plot and the fact it moved along pretty quickly but in comparison this one feel much more sluggish and the freshness of the plot has been spoiled by the fact that i already played part 2
Dragon Quest Monster Joker 2
i had fun when i first made my monster team and beated the first hard boss but after a while the game just falls into repetition, you barely get any reason to switch monsters around because your team is soooo much better and cooler than the random monster you find around, and most boss fight ends up in "one guy spam multiheal, one guy spam kabuff, the other spam their best attack" i guess that after all -mon game still sucks
-
western gaming. I can't take another fucking super-linear "AAA" shooter with cover mechanics and red shit that smears all over your screen when you get hit.
but one of my most anticipated Japanese games' is a linear shooter with cover mechanics :S
-

Send it to me, I'll play it.

I'm definitely gonna still play niche/indie western games, of course... but the 50 million dollar budget games with the huge advertising campaigns that are over in 4 hours, yeah fuck that shit.
Herr Mafflard: What game is that? Binary Domain?
-
Will you play Rage though?
-
Will you play Rage though?
-15-20 hours
-Not linear
-No cover mechanic
-
Enslaved
-
I gave up on Nier after like 5 hours. It just never got very interesting.

-
Herr Mafflard: What game is that? Binary Domain?

I'm giving up on collecting stuff for a "library" in general. Traded in a bunch of stuff and only kept the things I like to replay on a semi regular basis. Feels good, although not being able to reimburse myself on dd is kind of a downer.

wtf, should have sold to me. wait, you probably own crap like wii music. nevermind.
-
Yeah im kind of doing that now that im moving- not with games though, i've been pretty good about trading stuff in- mostly movies and books; off to the library with them- takes too much space.
-
I sold wii music awhile ago. Last time I sent something to you the address apparently didn't exist. I figured it was some elaborate troll to make me pay for shipping charges.
-
Focusing on 2-3 games :bow
"Collecting" games :yuck

What will you put on libraries instead?

What do you mean? I meant I donate them to the local library; i've learned my lesson about hoarding physical media

Nah, I expressed it badly, I just was thinking that is not that bad to have your collection on shelves. I'm not at the personal point where I would want to lose it myself.

I feel sorry for anyone who still has porn magazines when the internet exists.

I still have a small collection of games n anime, but im less worried about having something a few years from now- more realistic about how bad I need it I guess.

Scans don't compare to print quality, bro. Also, it's easier to bring a mag into the toilet.
-
I dunno... there can be times when there is no internet. I'd keep at least 2 magazines in my vicinity. Or a DVD. Or a GAZILLION HOT CLIPS FROM THE INTERNET to watch on my IPAD

just turn yr laptop on its side
and yes, always have backups on yr ipod/phone/flashdrive
-
Trying to beat every game I get.
-
OCD completionist-ism for some games
my goal for Dark Souls to just play the game without any prior knowledge, worrying about missing an item, or caring about anything. Just gonna play straight though and let things happen as they will.
-
OCD completionistismitis is my biggest gaming bad habit too. I gotta break it, because I manage to turn every game I play into an absolute fucking grind.
-
I gave up on Nier after like 5 hours. It just never got very interesting.
One of my poorest choices of the year, I think I maybe got 3hrs in
-
Say what you want about Nier the game, but the soundtrack is bonerfuck amazing- as is the remixed cd...new tribute CD is in the mail to me right now.

Oh, yeah. This. I've given up on collect-a-thons, even when there are fat Achievements for them. Red Faction: Guerrilla, I just finished every single-player Achievement, except for the one case of "find every" - the other collect 'cheevs were just a small subset of the total actually available, but those Big Black Crystals are limited. I got to 264 of 300 without much effort, but I know if I went for the last ones, I'd get to 299/300 and start tearing out my hair.
