yeah, this all sounds like a direct assault to squash B&N, they'll go after Apple next year
Well the number one reason I want an e reader is for digital comics. Does Amazon have DC, Marvel and Image stuff? I know I can get all 3 on the Nook at least and load them up manually for whatever I can't find. Can I do the same thing on the Kindle?

No. The Kindle is for grown-ups. :Pspoiler (click to show/hide)I don't know[close]
Amazon has their own version of the Android App store. You can go check it out and see if the apps you want are there:Bah. No DC comics. No Marvel comics. Not even a comixology app.

Is there a way to buy gift ebooks for someone else's Amazon/Kindle account?spoiler (click to show/hide)Yes, I am going to use this thread as a FAQ rather than look shit up myself. Thank you for asking![close]
i wouldn't count out b&n yet, they still have their nook color 2 to announce, and of all the bookstore chains they are the most likely to be left the one still standingB&N doesn't have a fraction of the resources that Amazon does. They can't put out something on the scale that Amazon is doing for the same price. The price alone easily means the Kindle will be the (non-Apple) tablet everyone will be getting as gifts this Christmas as opposed to what B&N has to offer.
they've certainly just been marginalized, though
I dunno, Amazon warehouses have paramedics on site to deal with people who pass out- thats fucked up.

Any word on if the e-ink refreshes quicker on these when turning pages?

yeah it does, apparently
How does the TV streaming work? DLNA or do I need a Kindle box or some shitIt's just an app for Amazon's streaming service. Like how Netflix is on iPad and the like. I think Amazon said Netflix will be on this as well.
I still haven't bought the new(old)touch nook, so I might get one of these. The 99 one has better battery life and more storage than the 79 one (in addition to being touch screen). Both have the new e-ink screens that are better than the ones on the previous kindles. I believe they are about equal to the nook's screen since the new kindles only refresh every 6 pages like the nook.
are either the 79 or 99 versions higher res? what's the difference anyway? they look the same
