Title: Why am I still GameStopping?
Post by: MrAngryFace on October 04, 2011, 04:39:10 PM
I went to Gamestop to pick up Dark Souls n Spider-Man. New GAM3RGUR1LLL at the counter, some nerd hitting on her- wait in line while he tries n fails. Listening to him makes me want to die. Gamestop still has my two phone numbers all screwed up. Pre-orders that were supposed to be taken care of weeks ago were not.

FUHHHHHHHH

I only go to Gamestop when I get a giftcard. The rest of my shopping is Amazon/Target/Frys.

They're the only place where I can go pick up old PS2 games :(

Their iPhone app makes it very easy to figure out where I can drive to pick up a copy of Obscure Racing Game 2003

I do it to trade in some games that I couldn't sell online, or don't have the patience to.

"Why am I still GameStopping?"

Man, that is a question for the ages.

I think, despite my loathing of the majority of GS employees and the even larger majority of GS customers, in the end it is still interesting to browse and find cheap impulse buys, or even find some obscure game that I had forgotten that I wanted.

Nerdboy hitting on geekgrrl is always uncomfortable though. I'm always tempted to say, "Dude. It's a lose-lose situation here: she's at work and can't leave; you've got her trapped. At the same time, once she's out of work, she still won't want to talk to you or to have you following her around. That's stalking. You don't want to be a stalker, do you?"

Even browsing is just kind of gross since the condition of used games tends to be awful shite

At least browsing used games is fun in Japan because everything is in A condition and at worse smells like smoke.

Browsing used to be a lot more fun, there used to actually be some gems hidden in the mix- now its just garbage most of the time- and a lot of locations have phased out anything before this gen; at least round here.

also if you stack with the card and any "trade this many get this % more" deals sometimes you can actually leave the store without feeling like your asshole's bleeding

All I remember is at some point she starts on this story that ended with something her boyfriend said- clearly a sign to fuck off but the dude hung around and leaned over the counter n shit. I dont think he even ended up buying shit- what an ass. I bought shit! Shit buyers should be first in line!

I dunno why either.  Internet shops sell games for much cheaper.

For Aussies you can buy Skyrim for 55 bucks at game-lane.com.au.

Yeah EB here are doing +30% trade value for pre-orders as well. Otherwise I wouldn't bother.

I've never tried to get a # from a GAM3RGRRRRRRRL working at GameStop, surprisingly enough.

spoiler (click to show/hide)
Knowing me I'll easily get the # but then when I go to call her, she won't return my calls :gloomy

Yup (though I met her off OKC), but after our first date she made a few excuses to cancel date 2, and then I gave up :gloomy

I go there when I want to impulse buy a less than mainstream game and it is on my way home from work.

Impulse buys are rare so I usually just go on amazon.com.

GameStop kind of sucks but they've really improved from their darker days (well, maybe 3-4 years ago) of putting a dozen stickers on all their used games and badgering you to subscribe to magazines.

I worked a temp job a few years ago and one of my colleagues was a G4M3RGUR11 who used to work at EB part time.

She was attractive, thus she said dweebs would follow her around the store, asking her out repeatedly. Some people would come back again and again and offer her gifts, ignoring the fact that she told them straight up she had a boyfriend.

It's such an interesting phenomenon.

It was a while ago so I can't remember the specifics, I'm not sure if these dudes actually bought in physical shit, but I think they were offering to buy her jewlery & games and stuff.

These days if I have time for gamez I need the game that day or else I'd never play it.  If it took 2 days my shit I'd be past the optimal time to play it.

Suffice to say I rarely game these days.

good laptop + 360 controller + wireless reciever = awesome good time anywhere you go

I went to Gamestop on Saturday to see if they had a copy of Atelier Totori, but despite their computer saying that they had a copy, they couldn't find it. So thanks to their incompetence, I avoided giving money to Gamestop and buying a crappy loli-rape sim all in one fell swoop, feels good man.

Atelier ps2 games are nothing like the ps3 games in terms of setting/characters
