tl;dr they all look ultra portable awesome but will that Intel integrated GPU do them justice? I avoid Intel GPUs whenever I buy any kind of laptop so I have no idea if these are the good kind of integrated GPUs or not.
-
So MacBook Air clones have an official name now? I would imagine the integrated Intel GPU would be the same here as it is elsewhere; fine for regular computing but poor for playing modern games.
-
Good for anything but gaming as stated above.
Maybe look into Samsung Chronos 7 series with 6750 ati radeon if you like the mac-design.
-
DM1Z is a beast, they are releasing a new revision with Beats Audio and 4gigs ram instead of 3 where I live.
Still, I could see this doing well for some thanks to the slim design and extra battery juice.
-
Will wait and see what ASUS and HP release, but like the others, I'm perfectly happy with my DM1Z. You've gotta be nuts to buy one of these in 2011 though.
-
Beats Audio? The Dr. Dre beadphone brand? They're included those in PC? Man, Dre must be rolling in dough.
-
Yup. HP signed a deal with them for laptops and HTC for phones.
Dunno how good this Beats Audio especially since DM1Z audio is pretty good to begin with.

This was $350 after coupon a few days ago; mine's shipping tomorrow. Though it's not an ultrabook, it's pretty close, right? Good decision or bad? I needed a new small laptop and only had $300 so this kinda fit the budget. Good decision or bad?
Also will the piddly Intel integrated on this card play anything? Not really expecting anything out of it but will be using it to do very light Photoshop work and some coding. I'm moving up from an HP Mini 311 (Atom/nvidia 9400M) so this should be quite a jump performance-wise, correct?
-
it's a good mba equivalent. $350 is a great deal. it's pretty snappy, although even with the intel hd 3000 graphics it won't be playin' much that's modern -- it's roughly equivalent to a nVidia 6800 from way back when. great purchase!
-
Nice, thanks Prole. Not really looking to play modern stuff on it. Anything that'll run something as old as Diablo 2, and -- fingers crossed -- even TF2 would be sufficient.
-
tf2 will run fine on it.
