Just wondering, it's been two or three years since he was elected right. More of the same or...?
Really curious to what you americanos think.
From an uninformed EU perspective: He put in some healthcare system, I think. And that's about it?
-
He FARTED SO LOUD
/thread :smug
-
He brought back arrested development and killed steve jobs.
-
killed bin laden
killed a bunch of other terrorists
credit card reform
children on parent's health care until age 26
ended DADT
visitor rights for gay couples in hospitals
saved the auto industry
stopped justice department from defending DOMA
I've got many o' complaint about Barry, but there's no doubt he did some good stuff too
-
Oh yeah didnt he get gay people to be able to be open about it in the army?
What's DADT?
-
Ya know, for all the bitching from Greenwald and his fanbois about the corporatist presidency, his administration ended two of the biggest giveaways to the private sector. Not that anyone ever remembers.

What's DADT?
Don't Ask Don't Tell, a program instituted under President Clinton that kicked gay military members out of the service.

mandark: wat
Precisely.

saved the auto industry
this is a big one. For all the crap about government interference the auto bailout was absolutely the right thing to do and saved tens of thousands of jobs, and didn't actually cost the fed all that much.

For what it's worth, he is the first President in 30 years to start thinking about tightening regulation and at least providing lip service to meaningful reform.
I think he is the very definition of a day late and a dollar short but he is the best President we've had in 10 years. I don't buy into the cult set bullshit that he is the bestest president of all time but I think he'd rank above average. Historically, we've had real pieces of shit (almost every President from 1840-1933 was bad due to machine politics of the era) and I think that a benignly incompetent President like Obama should at least rank in the upper half.
I'll probably vote for him in 2012. I'm not going to give any money to him or knock on any doors for him but I guess I can take a half hour out of my life to vote for him.
Oh, is obama the reason why I can't get tons of credit cards? Fucking asshole, I want to ruin my credit like every american before me!
I get credit card mailings for new card offers almost daily.

He changed a lot of older white people into blithering idiots.

So you like him?

PD: Medicare Advantage and FFEL.
Ah, forgot about student loans.
-
Everyone did! Though I'm sure if they had caved on that point, it would be brought up ad nauseum as dispositive proof that Obama was a secret
Muslim Republican.
I'm actually surprised that it went through, since a lot of the main beneficiaries were apparently in Indiana, with Evan Bayh looking out for them. I wonder if he squeezed out any specific concessions or if he just had to swallow it, since the savings were needed to make the ACA deficit-neutral.

provided stimulus to the flagging tri-corner hat industry.
