New apartment + current couch = disaster?

I went to a local Ashley furniture overstock warehouse and ended up picking up a nice couch that was normally $3500 for $990 last year. It all depends on how you want your living room to be spaced out. I like couch's with the fainting couch built into one of the corners make's having guests over a breeze.

I've had bad experiences with Ashley furniture.  Bleh.  The couch I bought from them was cheap crap.  It fell apart so quickly.  Never again.  I discovered furniture really is one of those items where you get what you pay for.

Very true you get what you pay for. I bought a couch a year and half ago that I thought would be great. It was a bonded leather with built in fainting couch. Piece of shit micro suede fell apart in less than 2 months time.

I returned it and got a nice upholstered one with wood features and have been happy ever since. That first experience (also ashley furniture) really made me learn how to pick something that would last.

We got the leather sectional for the basement at Macy's last year, it's awesome. Our upstairs living room couch is a micro fiber one from Dania. Neither are cheap but still affordable.

Yeah, because after the food riots start and the oceans have risen 4m to change the shape of the world, you're going to want to make sure your hovel has a well-upholstered couch.

This is pretty much how I've always done it.  That and get a couple of sofa covers to rotate in between.

Yeah, there are some really nice couches at Macy's, I'm in the market for a couch now and I've been to various stores... Macy's, Ashley and Lay-Z-Boy had some of the nicest stuff. But I guess according to the 'peps, Ashley isn't worth it.

JC Penney Furniture Store had a smaller selection of couches but some decent-looking stuff too at affordable prices. There's also Raymour and Flanigan, but I don't like the designs of a lot of their couches or furniture. Half the furniture there looks like stuff you'd see at Grandma's house circa 1988.

Just get a nice chair. Couches are nothing more than an open invitation to unwanted guests having somewhere to sleep.

Disaster!

fan fucking tastic

sitting in it right now :D  Since my old department had paid a pretty penny for it, it was a pain in the ass to get them to let me take it to my new position.

Anyways, I got two new couches over the weekend.  Come on, MAF.  Pull the trigger.  We'll be couch buddies.

:lol  I'm still blown away at how you got them to buy it for you in the first place!  Usually stingy ass corporations require a doctor's note and your soul before they fork one over.

Cool ass managers that also paid my internet and cell phone bill and hey... his phrase exactly: "what the hell, we're already $135,000 over budget"

The company doesn't roll like that anymore though :(

cat doesnt scratch at shit anymore but the claws are still there and still have the potential to snag. I've given up trying to keep the cat off things- mostly because I cant enforce it for 8-10 hours of the day so its kinda one of those 'only doesnt do it when im around' situations

So is ours, this was more vindictive "you threw me in a car and drove me across town to a new place" pee.

She doesn't have front claws and I keep her back ones trimmed, never had any real problems with her punching holes in it.

Yeah mine still has fronts- and aside from me clipping them with nail clippers once in a while digging into things cant really be helped. Cat was all weird most of yesterday but seems used to the new place.
