Have any of you had Lasik done?

I've been with the same pair of glasses for 4 years+ now so I thought it might be time to get them sparkly pearls looked at. I ask cause I recently got checked out to replace my glasses with a new prescription. But my new ophthalmologist is pushing for me to get Lasik done.

The cost of Lasik is rather expensive, but the benefit at a young age to getting it done is supposedly great. Your eyes strengthen and retain that strength much longer than if I was to get it done later in life.

I'm not convinced it's worth the cost though. And I'm partial to glasses as its kinda become a part of how I look and perceive myself.

She's not willing to write my prescription till I go to some Lasik exam. Granted I haven't payed her. I don't know if its cause she's looking for the kick back from me getting it done. Or if she really does care for her patients, she seems genuinely concerned.

I went to her based on many reviews since my last ophthalmologist was some guy at Costco and damn near fucked up my vision two years ago.

So Foureyes Bore what say you?

Find another doctor or look into Lasik a bit more?

While I totally agree its my choice. I just wonder if it's something that will be worth it in the long run over standard glasses. My eyesight isn't completely screwed up. I just have a mild astigmatism as well as some early stage macular degeneration which runs in my family.

How was the actual procedure?

Find another doctor. LASIK would be fantastic but it's YOUR choice, not your doctor's. It's quite expensive as well like you said and glasses aren't all that bad! I wore contacts all the time but they started to hurt my eyes so I've been wearing glasses again.

New docta unless you can afford the LASIK, in which case sure, give it a look see if you're up for it!

don't do lasik unless you're absolutely sure your prescription has settled

and try contacts if you haven't.  they ain't no thang.
