Not to be that guy but Oregon / Pacific Northwest is where it's at. You get four fairly mild seasons and I'm a short drive away from the forest / mountains, the beach, the high desert, rivers, lakes, green everywhere laid back liberal state ahhhhh if it just rained a bit less it'd be perfect.

East coasters are a short drive from New Jersey!

Hmmmm, I don't think I can live in this area. The downtown is kind of sparse and it doesn't seem like there's much to do at night. Nice place to retire (winter aside). Seattle was pretty rad with a good mix of scenic and 20s/30s social scene. +1 for NW.
My cousin says that the Pacific Northwest is a more classy, refined and prettier Northeast. He's lived in New England nearly all his life and visited Seattle just before moving back East from LA.

I might be going to NJ next year! it can't be that bad!
True story: the entire state of new jersey smells like a wet fart. The residents are too habituated to notice and most tourists are too polite to say anything.
I want to visit NJ, screw you guyswhy
