Title: Official Thread of New Family Additions and Freakin Out, Man
Post by: lennedsay on October 25, 2011, 01:23:58 PM
We've been browsing for a third rescue shiba for a few years, and we finally found our little guy last night! Dakota :heart He's so sweet and is already one of the pack with the other two. When he woke up this morning, he stood as tall as he could on us to give us both kisses. :heartbeat I'll post pics as soon as I upload them. Really soft red medium sized boy with a big fluffy tail.

What a day!

Then after we got him home and settled, I realized that I'm pregnant. O.O

Thanks everyone! It was kind of a shock, but this is what we always hoped for, rather than planning it out. If we waited until we were ready, we'd never be ready.

So yea, no one knows yet, but I'm going to tell my bestie tonight.

Luckily, the dog we just got was raised with a 3 year old, and our other two love kids too. That's one reason we waited so long to adopt a rescue shiba - most of the rescues hate kids and/or other dogs.

Baby girl is due on February 22nd. She's either going to be Evelyn Diane or Adelaide Poppy. We're waiting until she is here to make the decision.

:rofl

I think we all know that dogs are way better than kids. Now if we can get them to live longer than us and pay for our home healthcare as geriatrics, there would be no reason to have kids. Told my bestie, who doesn't even want kids - just dogs, and she cried. I've known her since we were 14 and I've seen her cry maybe once ever, and her eyes just kinda welled up, not even a real cry.

So far, only symptoms are very light cramping/tightening in my uterus, kinda more hungry more frequently, and my tits hurt like a bitch. They don't look any bigger though, which is good, because that would be obscene. Really sore in my legs and hips. Fibromyalgia + pregnancy =  :-\

He's pretty smart. I don't allow our dogs in the kitchen while I'm cooking, because I don't want to step on them or drop something that could hurt them, so our dogs know they can sit right on the line between the kitchen and living room. Taught Dakota to back up, sit, and stay at the entrance within 2 minutes tops. He laid down there and watched us cook the entire meal.

He did have a hissy fit about a treat when our dogs came close though, which I guess is pretty common for dogs. I'm so used to the first two, who share a food bowl, and if you give them separate bones, they play fight over one anyway. Well, more like my female dangles it in front of Kobe so he chases her, and all is happy.

When we got home from work, he gave kisses, howled and rolled all over the carpet. (http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a383/lennedsay/5UkcN.gif)

I think the kitchen thing is something dogs understand naturally, we decided to start doing that after a year, on day two she understood it after one word.

:rofl I'll change my avatar to a more maternal one soon. These are great suggestions, but feel free to submit any others before I make a final decision.

Part of fibromyalgia is "fibro fog" which is a term used to describe the inability to focus, especially in times of increased pain/decreased sleep. I overcome forgetfulness in day-to-day tasks by being extremely OCD. Pregnancy Brain has already kicked in and I've forgotten all my OCD tactics, so its a double whammy. Yesterday I left my phone in my car twice and couldn't find it. Been feeling like a total forgetful tard. My husband is way more OCD than myself, so he keeps having to ask me where I put shit. :(

Also, peeing like crazy. Although I have been drinking 3x as much water, because I'm constantly burning up. Have not drank any caffeine or soda since Monday, and don't even miss it.  8) Been eating really healthy so far, except for 2-3 little Laffy Taffys out of the Halloween candy, which is worth it mmmm

She's pretty much always craving pasta, but that's it. I'm kinda bummed I haven't had to run to the store at 2am for ice cream and chili peppers or something.

It's been a realtively easy pregnancy so far. No morning sickness and she's only gained 7 pounds.*

Pregnancy's gift to the male part of the equation.  One of my friends already had um, huge tracts of land and while she was pregnant they got even bigger.  Poor lady.  Then again, everyone thought she had twins too because of how big she got overall.
