I don't think it's up for playing yet, but you can download the client now:

The paid version was fun, a refreshing take on the MMO genre and it was cool flying around a huge city with all kinds of crazy stuff going on. The F2P version should be good for a few weeks, at least.

Yeah there was apparently a solid single player component- I actually dumped 60 hours into star trek online- was fun for that period of time.

I do feel sorry for the scrubs that picked up the lifetime subscript for STO though lol

Most MMOs are dead or close to after the free month ends, it's pretty stupid to jump on a lifetime subscription right out the gate.

Available on PS3 as well. Let's roll a clique.  Don't be too sad when I drop it after a day though.

Isn't this thing like 20GB? Jesus, it would take about 6 months to download it off the shitty PSN servers.

Not sure about the PS3 version, but the PC version is 14GB. It's downloading about 300KBs [my max download speed] right now.

I'll download the PS3 version again. I played a bit of the beta, was alright but not something I'd ever pay for. I should preface that by saying that I refuse to pay a monthly fee for any game, though.

I'll download the PC version eventually.  The beta was fun, despite the tedium of mmo objectives (do this thing 10 times, now do this 10 times, and then this 10 times; repeat those three objectives 10 times)

PS3 and PC folks play together, right?

Nope. Separate servers. At one point in the beta they did, but then they separated them before release. Thank you PSN!

I don't. Now all the microstransaction DLC is free for them, when it wasn't back when it was a paid MMO. The lifers and people who pay for a sub now get $5 in spacebucks a month for the microtransaction stuff.

Played the PC version a couple hours today, it's pretty much the same game. Although I did notice that it wouldn't let me accept items through email, which you get several of early on, because that feature is locked out for F2P players.

hahaha, so i downloaded this last night and tried it early this morning, seemed pretty cool, liked it enough that i even thought about spending the $10 for the green lantern expansion

tried it again a few hours later, had to wait in a queue for about 5 minutes, not so bad

just now i waited nearly 30 minutes in the log in queue, and now the loading screen has been hanging there for about 5 minutes, so i basically have to quit out of the game, load it back up, and wait another 30 minutes (i am guessing) to see if it freezes again

so yeah, never spending a dime on this

green lanterns don't exist in afrobotic prime's dc universe

SOE's servers have been absolutely horrible for the past few days, maybe they'll get that sorted out in a few days. MAYBE.

Thought I'd make another character and try a villain, got all the way through the creation process and yep, you guessed it, loading screen forever, no "server maintenance" or whatever warning message or anything

just about a day away from deleting this off my hard drive altogether

All the server status updates are coming through Facebook:

Those of you that appear to be "stuck" at the loading screen. We believe you are actually being put in the login queue following creating a new character, but the queue isn't being displayed. We're investigating this further. Please simply wait at that screen and you will get in.

I played it for 2 hours - it's charming enough and I like the character creator, but I'm not about to drop into another MMO
