Updated: it looks like it is Time Warner's fault — the company said it experienced a "large but brief Internet outage."
We're getting reports that the Internet — yes, the Internet — died for a brief period of time across the country.
We have heard reports that the Internet went out in Washington D.C., Los Angeles, San Francisco, Raleigh, N.C., Dallas, several cities in the Midwestern United States and New York so far.
One customer said he was disconnected during the course of a phone call with Time Warner and called back to hear an odd message stating calls could not be completed at the time.

this caused a pretty a large number of our hosted application clients to not be able to access their hosted apps for around 3 hours. it caused a major routing issue between our ISP and their ISP.
