*Phone rings. Boss picks up*
"Hello, this is so and so."
*pause*
"Hold on a sec.... did you just say cloud!!! Yeah, not interested!"
*smashes phone onto receiver*
It's one of the pet peeves of the IT dept.. 99% of all people who say 'the cloud' have no fucking idea what they are taking about.
-
the cloud is really overhyped though it can be very beneficial to many professions
like meteorologists.

everytime I say "THE CLOUD" I say it like this:

Outside of tech positions though, it's just a marketing term for "where the magic happens".

I would just blast face in a cloud by the audiobullies through the phone.
-
I'm waiting for "the cloud" to be as overused as "nanotechnology," at which point, a cloud of nanotechnology, the long-feared mass of grey goo, will sweep across the land, eradicating all call-centers and reconfiguring them into fembot production factories.

Cloud is so mistunderstood. Storing data on other computers isn't really the cloud... the Cloud is like, Folding @ Home. Stuff like that. Distributed computing.
But it's a buzz word so I use it in ways that will get a point across to others. *shrugs* I rarely say it though.

:lol We just had someone yesterday trying to pitch "the cloud"
"You and your clients can access the data from any device, anywhere, anytime!"
"You mean like the internet?"
"No no, it's cloud-based!"
*click*
Hopefully this marketing shit dies soon.
