Oh please guys. Nikki's way out of my league. I'll tell you that any day of the week. She knows it and I know it! She's dating below herself by being with me. I tell her all the time that I've got no idea how the hell she got together with me, as she could get with a guy much better than me with no problems at all.
The facts I submit to you are this:
1) I am ugly. Look at my pictures, and you'll know this is true. This was even MORE true in high school, I assure you.
2) I am not a very social person. I'd much rather stay home and sleep or sit on the internet all day than actually go out and do anything.
3) In high school, I had more acne than I do now, I was angry all the time, and I was a very nerdy video game kid. I started the trend with my friends of wearing those Hot Topic shirts with Mario and Zelda shit on them. That was (and is still, for the most part (though I haven't worn the worst of those shirts in awhile) due to my general refusal to spend money on new clothes) my wardrobe for 3 or so years.
Nikki is clearly at least a level above me in every aspect. She's a lot prettier than anyone I should be with just based on my troll beard and long hair alone, for goodness sake! The only reason she even started going out with me in the first place was because I suckered her shortly after she got dumped by her previous boyfriend.
Had I not sneakily snagged her when I did, I'd probably still be single since I typically don't go after girls.

I knew this girl. We were friends in school, and she and I talked a lot as she was good friends with another of my friends and going out with another of my friends. The type of guys she liked certainly didn't fit my 'goofy video game geek' profile. She was more into the really popular social guys who were into partying and going to the club and stuff, and that's not the guy I was.
As such, she was in a vastly different league than I was.

For the record, guys, James thinks very badly of himself and is really a great guy. I wouldn't have stuck around if he wasn't.
Some things to debunk:
She was more into the really popular social guys who were into partying and going to the club and stuff, and that's not the guy I was.
HAHAHA okay, my German-teacher first love was NOT a partier at all. He parties now, but he was straight edge when I was dating him. My Princeton boyfriend was not and probably still isn't a partier, and we're also pretty sure that he's homosexual anyway. Neither were popular in the traditional way--the first was popular because he was easygoing and fun and everyone knew him, but they weren't friends with him. The second was popular because he was the class valedictorian.
James and I weren't in this "vastly different league" or anything. We had a lot of mutual friends, made similar grades, had a few classes together, both in National Honor Society and everything, and as far as popularity goes he was probably more popular than I was. I went to a little Catholic school before I came to our high school, most people didn't know me and most people did know him. Not that it matters now, but I certainly wasn't popular like he's leading you all to believe. I was in the marching band. James played football. No way, haha.
The girl in question though, from those pictures...she's pretty smart and was good with the speech debates in FBLA, but she was also a little slut and it seems like that hasn't changed.
