Title: Netflix/Wal-Mart Lawsuit
Post by: Great Rumbler on November 16, 2011, 01:44:42 PM
I got an email about this class action lawsuit, but I hadn't really heard anything about one ongoing. Is it legit? I want my free gift card!

What's the story behind this?

Wal Mart apparently dropped its DVD rental by mail service if Netflix agreed to not sell DVD's new.

What do you think everyone is getting? Is it worth filling out? I got an email for this, but I only had a subscription via free gift code.

I wouldn't expect more than a few dollars.

it's for all netflix subscribers and Wal Mart settled with 25 million dollars.  Isn't there like 25 million netflix subscribers.  We all probably get like one buck.

As with any class-action lawsuit, the lawyers are going to be happiest with their portion of the settlement.

Some class action lawsuits are rather lucrative if you've got the proof and time. I've been part of three in the past year that have ended in getting some giftcards. Petsmart one ended in me getting two giftcards for $472 each. Then the cheveron texico debit card one ended up with a gas card worth $3200.

Last one I got in on was for target's of california for their wedding/gift registery which if I'm not mistaken will net around $5000 in the form of a Visa giftcard once its been finalized. Target fucked up big and ended up sending personal information to private companies after you opted out of sharing your data. Then went on to deny such claims even after the third parties confirmed the info was from Target.

I've already filled this one out just to see if it'll net anything over a buck or two.

Wow, that's pretty great! US$3200 in gas would be great for anyone. I would have trouble figuring out how to spend $5000 at Target though.

Why? Target is a pretty "everything" store. I could easily spend $5000, even though half the shit is still overpriced.

TV, vidya games, Blurays. Wouldn't be that hard to spend $5000.

I reconsidered; I think some Targets even have food and medicine, so it would be pretty easy to go through $5K in a few weeks.
