Title: Everything > Zelda sales
Post by: Cerveza mas fina on November 21, 2011, 06:31:38 AM
Quote
Sales of the first-person shooter dropped 87 per cent over its week one debut but it still claims the number one spot despite a strong opening week for Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed: Revelations at number two.

The latest in the Assassin's Creed franchise saw unit sales up 4 per cent on last year's game and revenues up 8 per cent, arriving on a Tuesday and selling 61 per cent of sales during its first 24 hours.

Sales of Bethesda's Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim have fallen 62 per cent although it still takes the number three spot, ahead of THQ's Saint's Row The Third which saw sales up 43 per cent compared to the debut of Saints Row 2 in 2008.

With FIFA 12 at number five, the next new entry is Microsoft's Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary at six followed by Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword at seven.

Zelda = becoming very irrelevant.

Skyrim a wrpg can have 62 drop in sales and still outsell Zeruda.

It should beat Saint's Row, and it might beat individual SKUs of the others, but that's not what I was contesting.  I was contesting that you could just take Euro charts and replace FIFA with Madden and come out with pretty much the same thing.  That is demonstrably false.

it's true, that list will be missing the latest re-imagining of everyone's favorite Acorn classic, Blobby McBloo and the Big Old Egg

OF COURSE I CARE. THQ is on their knees, about to be decapitated. I want more Volition and I want more Saints Row!  :'(

In any case, the lukewarm-ish reviews for SS may have contributed, but personally I'd throw the dart squarely on the Wii being dead for an entire damn year. Great job killing your main platform the year your "biggest" game was to come out, Nintendo.

Skyward Sword's reviews actually aren't that low, outside of Gamespot's 7.5.

I didn't say they were low, but they're obviously not competitive with the Skyrim/Uncharted/Batman/MW3's critical darlings.

As far as review average goes:

Skyrim > Arkham City > Skyward Sword > Uncharted 3 > Modern Warfare 3

As one of the boards fine UK peeps, i'd like to add that i cancelled my Zelda order today as i don't want to get the game and end up being "that guy" who moans about how F**KING SHIT it is... again...

Zelda is not for me so i'm saving everyone the trouble by just assuming i won't like it and moving on.

also - it might give me something to play on the Wii U :/

BUT THE SALES!  NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

So week 1 Zelda sold under 50k in the UK.

UK is 25% of the EU market (right?)

So week one Zelda sold 200k EU tops.

So one month TOPS would be 800k.

Which is pretty shit, for the biggest Nintendo title this year.

I mean I'm pretty sure most other big games outsold it by a mile.

The UK has much less stomach for AnimUguu than the rest of Europe. France, for instance, will be rubbing it's tits all over a new Zelda in a much higher %.

Yeah I know the DQ series is really popular in France... what an amazing country - beautiful architecture and cities, the Louvre, Daft Punk/Alan Braxe/Lifelike/Justice... have lots of hottttt girls who don't shave their vaggies, awesome food, and they like their weeaboo stuff (I remember seeing tons and tons of DBZ manga when I was in Paris, before it even broke in America).

Shame about David Guetta though.

Je parle un peux francais mais j'ai oublie un plus de langue.

When I was in Paris, I was in 11th grade (went back in 12th) on a school trip... and then saw a Parisian high school get let out... the amount of hot petite blondes there was RIDICULOUS
