That movie scared the shit out of me as a kid. Way more than Videodrome did.

Why Babe: Pig in the City?  I haven't seen it since it came out and I was pretty young.  I hated it back then.  Bah Ram Yu or something.

George Miller's second-best movie, after Road Warrior. :rock

It's dark as fuck and really twisted.  Re-watch it. You won't be disappointed.  (probably)

I love kids movies that are in no way appropriete for kids.

Gremlins, Coraline, Roger Rabbit, The Dark Crystal, Labryinth, good times all.

Wasn't quite sure what to expect from this thread.  A deranged tale of trucker life, amusement park gushing, a thinly veiled cry for help, maniacal raving on tinfoil hat conspiracy theories...

Anyway, putting Babe: In the City on the streaming queue; not something I'd ever expected to say.

God the Dark Crystal soul sapping scene is FUCKED UP.

You might be thinking of the first Babe.  The second one was apparently pretty dark, which nobody expected.  Got panned a lot for that, but some critics really liked it.  Still haven't seen it myself.

I assume Babe runs into some slaughterhouses

There are no slaughterhouses in the city.  He probably gets barred from entering some fine mezza bistro, exploring modern racial tension.

as far as I'm concerned, Labyrinth is required viewing for kids.

Yeah, awesome, creepy movie. The Wheelers man. =/ Childhood shivers.

Isn't Pig in the City basically a mafia movie? Maybe I'm thinking of some other animal movie.

I like all of those except Gremlins. That movie has NO IDEA what it wants to be. Not a kids' movie, not a horror movie, and not a comedy, except unintentionally, IIRC.

You should give it another try.

Then again, my parents took me to see JAWS when I was only 7 or 8, and I still have trouble with the ocean.

Gremlins is second only to Die Hard in the "just barely a Christmas movie" category.

Is that the one with Brendan Fraser?  Cause I remember him going on the Daily Show and giving a summary of the plot that actually sounded really good.

Watched Return to Oz as a kid. Remember loving it. I may be crazy but the sense of adventure in Return to Oz felt even larger than the original Wizard of Oz.

It's weirder when you realize Fistful only cares about the reverse of that scenario.
