Title: Anyone buying Trine 2 tomorrow?
Post by: Bebpo on December 07, 2011, 01:00:20 AM
Trine is up there with Super Meat Boy as my favorite XBLA style game this gen (although man, Hamilton's Great Adventure might be there with them by the end.  That game is so good, but that's another story).

So the first game had local coop to control each of the three characters at once.  This time it's got online coop.  A real cooperative platformer with actual online coop, who would have thought.  I think it'd be kind of cool to play it with other people this time around.  Anyone else going to get it on Steam?

Also if you buy it you support Atlus and that means more Shin Megami Tensei games!

Trine and VVVVVV and Bionic Commando Rearmed and (I started realizing it was stupid to make a list when I liked a lot of things and fuck deleting but I was going to say "are my favorite platformers this gen" or whatever)

but probably not.  as much as I want it, I have games to play.  I'm tired of building my backlog.

I was at a gaming event Friday and the distributer of Trine was showing off some co op vids. I'll ask him more about release dates and stuff

I liked the original fair enough (apart from repetitive combat against all those skeletons) but will probably pick this up at a Steam sale or indie bundle.

Gotta admit though, that wizard hat looks pretty dope, and I don't even play TF2.

Finished it this weekend. Art in the game is god damn gorgeous. Not really a lot new here though. Basically a clone of the first game so I'm happy they said their next project won't be trine 3. Also less challenging in co-op than solo. I played through the entire game in 3 player co-op and it was fun but the wizard and the checkpoint system make every puzzle pretty easy.

Yeah, I feel ashamed that I still haven't played this.  I replayed a bit of Trine 1 the other day for the steam achievement and it reminded me how freaking GOOD the art and music was in that game and I really enjoy the gameplay in it.  I think I'll play Trine 2 next week after I clear some backlog.

I feel bad for speed running through the game to get achievements. It really is a great looking game.
