Probably because they can't, you know how fickle lawyers are. Money money money.

Yes, they do.  This list is probably not going to be completed by any sane person.

That may not be that tough to do in a major city (like NY)...

Probably isn't that hard for Euros (10 that is).

you guys are making a mountain out of an anthill, even wii sports resort had achievements and i don't remember anybody remembering that

nintendo has just this passive-aggresive attitude toward the concept and that's all there is to it

I can't wait to see the ntard reaction.

Going from "don't want achievements, ruins games" to "wow, this is awesome, thanks nintendo!"

How long until Nintendo re-releases titles "NOW WITH ACCOMPLISHMENTS", and people re-buy them? Has to be less than 12 months

This is almost certainly the truth, and probably with good reason. It's not like MS is above litigating at the drop of a hat, and Japanese companies are always very, very keen to avoid lawsuits.

Metroid Prime 3 had achievements.

there are a couple games on nintendo systems with achievements (MM9 or 10 I think too) but it was never a unified system.  similar to the PS3 and Uncharted (later patched with trophies).

good on nintendo for this.  I hope the Wii U online turns out great, and even the 3DS seems to be getting significant patches, so hopefully it improves too.

yeah avoiding calling them achievements is reasonable. Refusing to put Earthbound on Virtual Console, as the first few seconds of the "New Age Retro Hippie" battle theme are similar to Johnny Be-Goode, is not reasonable.

it's not like ms has a patent on achievements, though, right? I mean, steam games have achievements.
