Some background:
This is a class with 5 assignments. 4 homework assignments each worth 10% of the grade, and a final worth 60%. Each homework assignment is 3 parts, based on textbook questions. No partial credit is given. Currently I have lost 10 points on those four assignments because of that cool idea.
The final was distributed today, and is due Wednesday. Again, no partial credit is given. It is 4 questions, only some of which I have an idea how to answer. I feel that if someone had a real professor they could be easily done in Excel. Mine has required that we use this ancient software that only works on Windows 98, but he is not requiring that for the final. I blame that software for my point losses in past assignments.
Since the other assignments came from the text, I could always refer back in the chapter for examples on how to do it. No chance of that this time, since he produced all his own problems. He also deleted all of the old questions and reference material from his website so it cannot be used anymore, so all I have is my (apparently incorrect) answers to go by.

Does anyone here have familiarity with linear programming? I need to do things like figure out how long a product will last without failure, optimal setup of employee work shifts, min/max the sale of excess product and set up an investment portfolio. It is only four questions, all the data is given, I just need someone who knows how to format this stuff in Excel or some other software.
I am still planning on doing the work myself, but I want something to compare it against. I really have nothing to go by, time is short, and with a 60 point weight I could easily fail the class despite having an A- now. Is anyone interested in having a look at the problems by PM?

I took a business stats class, but that's been ages ago. Sorry, man. :(

I spent last summer doing research work on linear programming/discrete optimization but I know fuck all about business related math. I'll take a quick look at the problem and see if I can help at all.
-
For LP problems there's a lot of software out there. I know Excel can handle basic stuff but I don't have any experience using it so I dunno. I've used LINGO, AIMMS, and ILOG before but I can't remember which of them have free versions. I think there are web apps that are out there that can handle this stuff too.

you should be able to find the answers to the mix/max and optimal questions through the use of lagrangian's, though i don't know since i never took business math and i'm only applying what i learned from my econ course work.
other than that, i really cant' help you out. i don't remember the basics of setting up a lagrangian but if you want, i can give you a wolfram alpha output that will do it all for you since seriously, who the fuck expects you to do that shit by hand in the business world anyways.

nm, i just looked at the test. never had to do any of this shit.
just post each answer on chegg.com or cramster.com and hope for the best.

I read every inch of this thread; I tried as hard as I coud; but I failed Calculus and this is totally not my field.
I'm sorry I couldn't help you. But I will root for you and believe that you, who have survived this forum for years, will have the aptitude to make it through this test unscathed.
I wish you the best of luck, and I know from your collective of posts over the years, and the intelligence you have shown in each and every thread along the way, that you'll do it. And you'll show your classmates that in the end those who work the hardest reach the strongest outcomes.
Good Luck! I believe in you!

Willpower >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> inherent abilities.
The world has shown us this time and time again.
That's why manga use the concept of I GOTTA BELIEVE, because deep down it rings true.
and I believe in you Admiral Viscen.
-
just pay someone on the sites i mentioned to do the work for you.

that's such bullshit. if this were the case, than iq wouldn't be a better measurement in determining a person's future income than education.

Believe in Pringo. lol
Thanks for the kind words and the attempt though.
