This game was pretty bad for the most part, at least battle-wise (Duel system :yuck :yuck), but I thought it was cool how if you were out of WP/SP you could burn LIFE POINTS to cast a spell or whatever anyway. There was one boss battle where I had to keep using stun moves on some surrounding enemies to keep them from doing a lot of damage, and eventually the guy with the move ran out of WP or SP whichever it was, so I had to make the tactical choice to sacrifice some LP now to reduce the risk of losing more LP. It was especially appropriate along with the Hamauzu IDM-ish techno-ish boss music, and the fact that I was playing it at 2 am or something which contributed a lot to the LP-burning gestalt.

Well it's better than shit like Legend of Dragoon's magic system

I love SaGa Frontier 1 and 2, shame that Unlimited SaGa was such a disaster that S-E dropped the series.

the best part of saga is not playing saga,or any games that kawazu ever touch

The PS2 Romancing SaGa remake is like 75% a new game though, and the DS SaGa 2/3 remakes are 50%-ish new.

yeah, SF1 is neat, especially now that the stunning technical ineptitude of its visuals has become nostalgic rather than offensive
The best part of SF2 is of course Masashi Hamauzu's soundtrack.
