I rather play new IGA games than this turd. LoS had crappy QTE's, bad framerate and terrible platforming.
-
Devil May Cry 1 is still the best 3D Castlevania.
What about Demon's Souls? I'd love to see From handle a 3D CV with the pacing of DS, would fit like a white glove on OJ.
-
does konami even have the resources (money and/or talent) to make a proper 3D Castlevania game?

they should go back to low-budget 2D again.
-
i would enjoy a new single-player cv for xbla
-
I only bought the first for robert carlyle and patrick stewart
-
Never played the first because the demo turned me off. I can't play action games constantly in the sub 30fps framerate.

CV HD still has lots of people playing it over a year after its release. Meanwhile LoS was panned and hated all around. Konami's not very good at taking hints, are they?
-
i guess theyve just been too busy focusing on the silent hill series
-
Was the first really that bad? One of the few HD games I was really really hyped for.

If you like bad God Of War clones with shit camera angles you'll fucking love it! Otherwise, avoid.

I liked the 3d CVs by Konami. They were shitty and janky but they felt like CV in 3D.

Apart from it not feeling like Castlevania at all, the other negative points I found with it were:
- poor framerate
- use of shakycam, which combined with the poor framerate made the game vomitfuel
- too much boring filler contributing to its much-lauded length
- really iffy voicework from some really good actors
- while the combat system was pretty well-done, hits lacked impact, collision was off a bit, and the timing on counters was hard to gauge as a result
- automated platforming
- the shadow of the colossus rip-off/homage did not work out well at all
- derpy story that nonetheless took itself dead seriously
on the positive end, the music was great, the graphics looked very nice when they weren't herky-jerking, the combat system was pretty good apart from the issues i mentioned, and some of the levels were very well done, when you got to them through the layers of fat.
in the end though, i'd rather play lament of innocence. or hell, just stick with the 2d games.
Hrm there should have been a PC version, then the framerate/shakycam thing would be a non-issue. Shame about the filler though.

What do you mean by "shakycam" in the game? I have seen it in movies, and I've seen it emulated in in-game cinematics, but not as an actual game camera.

It's like God of War's uncontrollable fixed camera angles, except it shakes around.
and to add (or reiterate) what Oscar said, the game has dreadful pacing. What bothered me most was how much damage enemies took. Every encounter felt like a slog because you were pulling off all these whip moves and the enemies wouldn't stay down.

POOR IGA
-
Wonder if it's the same team that did the first one? Last I heard they were off to bastardize the Contra series but we haven't heard or seen anything since E3 so who knows...

POOR IGA
WHERES MY NANOBREAKER SEQUEL

bring on NeverDead!
(shakes head) poor, poor Konami.

A lot of the enemies in LoS go down pretty quickly if you're using full combos, the light/dark meters, and parrying. The combat in that game was surprisingly solid - probably the best there is in a western action game. LoS2 could be good if they expand on it properly. And their level designers need to realize that quality is more important than quantity. And fix the framerate.
