Even though I lost interest in KS, I still couldn't help but think about it. KS changed my life. It made me look at people with disabilities in a whole new light. Originally, I thought they were a bit strange. But now, I look at them as individuals that truly have the strength to overcome some of life's greatest challenges. Whenever I hear or read about someone deaf or blind or an amputee, I can't help but become interested. To this day, I still hold up KS as a shining example that games can be art, that deep emotional stories can be told, and that pornographic content does not need to diminish the quality of a project. It is my second favorite game of all time (just behind Persona 3) and to date the only visual novel I have played.

They released a demo for it sometime back. It was okay, I guess, decently-written visual novel and that's about it.

So is this a Japanese game or a game made by Western dudes as commentary on Japanese hentai games? No interest in playing it, but I'm interested in the motivations of the developers.

It's a Japanese-style visual novel game with relatively tame [for the genre] sex scenes.

NHK is a goddamn masterpiece chock full of substance abuse and suicide attempts! The full series retails for $30 and you can probably just stream the entire thing at Funi's site, there's no excuse for not viewing it! :gun

I hadn't realized this was made by white people.  Is this the first non-Japanese developed full-length visual novel?  Sort of interested in checking it out to see a western take on the genre.

Had thought it was just another j-VN that got an english translation and was free.

Yep.  I played it.  As a matter of fact, I got to 95% completion so far.  Seen most of the good/bad endings with everyone.  Oddly enough, I had been waiting for this game since I first heard about it on 4chan.  Glad it finally came out.  I enjoyed it, they put a lot into the story.

Lilly: Tall blonde Scot/Japanese.  She's blind and rich, and super proper.
Hanako: Scars along her face, hands, and body.  PTSD from her house burning down when she was a child killing her family.
Shizune: Dark hair and deaf.  Cousins with Lilly, rules the Student Council with an iron fist.
Misha: Shizune's translator.  No real disability, she wants to teach sign language.  Crush on Shizune.
Rin: No arms, dunno why.  Seriously spaces out most of the time.  Up and coming young artist.
Emi: Lost her legs and her dad in a car accident.  Has more daddy issues than leg issues.  She's on the track team with her portal-legs, and kicks ass.

It might be the first one with real effort behind it, but white kids have been playing around with Ren-py and churning out their own ADVs/VNs for many years now.

actually played through...my inner weeaboo is fulfilled for a good while.

I honestly was only going to give one route a chance, but says something that I ended up playing through all of them. worth at least a playthrough. the characters are actually really interesting, even if some are kinda overused anime tropes. also not sure why people were crying or anything...at its worst it's romance novel dreck, but is really fun when it's rolling. different authors for different routes mean some are much better than others.

Many people say the sex scenes are tasteful, and most um...kinda are....but having that shit on my screen was fucking embarrassing. There was an option for no matoor contentz, but I didn't want to miss anything. still, was kinda terrified my wife would walk in...some things you just can't explain.

I also like the story of the overall development...took a lot of dedication to make something so weird happen. really neat game thing.

I'd say it's really worth a try...if I had to rate, I'd say:
Emi>Rin>Hanako>Lilly>Shizune.

I ended up at 100% completion but am missing the final gallery picture for some reason. I was underwhelmed by all of the bad endings except for Hanako.

I'm at 97%, have a couple scenes missing, one from Emi, and one or two for Shizune, but I don't think I'll go back for them.  Not really sure yet.  I did enjoy it, though.

whelp i've decided to finaly try this but since i really didn't want to bother,i went and blazed trough the whole thing as fast as possible,missing some chunk of dialogues but getting the overall gist of it,ended up with a record of slighty less than 1 hour and half with the blind girl (lily?) path

and it's really just romance novel dreck,if you had to suffer trough persona 4 drama club girl S.Link,you've already played this game
