Saw these guys last year and am seeing them again on 4/29. One of the best live shows ever. Also this is going to be mostly a 90s/early 00s thread isn't it?

Growing up I listened to a lot of freestyle.. still have a soft spot for this type of music, in another life I must have been a Puerto Rican living in Washington Heights I think.

Then later when I was about 9 or 10 I got really into buttrock/metal:

Started watching MTV in the early 90's, these are some I remember from that time:

Loved this song too, this is my first-ever exposure to a type of music I would later learn was called 'house'. Yeah, that never caught on with me:

Grunge/Alternative was huge too back then:

Then in the mid 90's I got into electronic music and the rest is history... some of the earliest stuff:

Lots of the usual rock stuff but the one thing that blew my mind, that I can seriously look back and see as something that has influenced my tastes and outlook profoundly is Enigma's first album MCMXC a.D.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TFLRHPUWBI8
Whole album is very heavy, moody and beautiful. I remember using the CD from my father (who doesn't listen to anything close to this otherwise) and listening to it on his Sony surround sound system with headphones.
Also I wish I knew about trip-hop back in the early 2000's. Didn't really get into it until I started exploring the internets.
