X360 got a lot of shit for not having one. But at least that had COD2.
PS3 has Call of Duty - Just add Monsters but is a game that looks WORSE than COD2 a Killer App for a $600 machine?
The answer my friends, is that anyone who buys this console at launch is a grade A tool. Hell we still havent seen one in moition OR seen final system specs.
Kill yourselves Stards, your time has come. :-\

MGS4
I think he meant at launch. Nevertheless, this thread is doomed.
-
While the 360 had at least two pop up three or four months after launch, PS3 doesn't look to have anything.
Christopher's right. It will be MGS4... problem is, it might not come out for a year or longer after the PS3 launches.

Plus I don't think MGS sells like it used to.

I don't think the hype behind MGS will ever be matched, because it wasn't even matched by MGS 2

MGS4
That was promised to be shown at E3 2007 if that were still a reality. That is a loooooooong way away.
What do we have on the horizon?
For the X360, we had Oblivion, GRAW, Dead Rising and Saints Row, ALL shown way before the launch. Gamers knew they had Killer Apps on the horizon, plus we had some nice lauch titles and a killer online service and arcade service out of the box.
Sony, has what?

Heavenly sword- maybe
mgs 4 - definite when it comes out
all i can see just now :(

MGS4, FF13.

Well, the launch titles themselves have been on lock, so its understandable that "whats beyond launch" is still pretty much veiled. I expect it to be fully tapped on during either TGS or something between now and launch though. Before I plunk $600 down, I want to know what i'm going to be haveing at launch and in the following months.

Quick, someone page Zaptruder. We need him to explain why PS3 is a computer and not a console. You don't need killer apps when you are a computer!
-
It won't be MGS4. MGS isn't on the level of a Halo or GTA, and prettier graphics won't make it either.
At launch, who knows. It won't be Resistance or WarHawk. And Heavenly Sword is basically God of War with a chick. We know what the Wii's killer app is (Zelda), and we know what the 360's is (Gears of War). I can't think of any PS3 launch title that's going to make people go crazy for.

IIRC, not even MGS2:SoL sold all that well. I still :heartbeat that game, though.

and we know what the 360's is (Gears of War).
:lol
oh please, Gears of War is possibly going to sell respectably, but is most likely going to bomb
a killer app, this is not, and there isn't any in Xbox 360's sky save for Halo 3, only strings of gray clouds in sight

I never liked MGS. It's good though, only shopaholics have anything to worry about.
-
MGS1 was pretty decent.
MGS2 sucked.
I absolutely loved MGS3 and should really play through it again.

I can't state how much I love Metal Gear Solid 2. I probably like it more than the original MGS. I played through the whole game in one day or two without stopping, and I remember beating it at like 5:00 A.M. in the morning, and I was pretty emotional from being awake for so long. It's a perfect game to me. I didn't play video games for like three months after I beat it.
