I started playing Yoshi's Island again recently, and got a hankering for some more. How's the DS version?
-
awesome
-
at the beginning it feels like a shitty attempt at cloning the original without understanding it, but there is some great (and challenging) level design in there (about half of the levels are good). basically, everything presentation-y that was great about the original game (boss fights, music, overall "flow") is lame here, but the actual meat of the game is (mostly) just as good.

it's bad
-
sucks

The level design is most often pretty horrendous.
-
Terrible.
Edit: Nevermind, I was thinking of Yoshi's Touch and Go, I don't remember if I've ever played Yoshi's Island DS.

yeah, thats what was wrong with the game. I remember it sucked but I couldn't remember why.
-
I liked it a lot
Gave it to a little cousin who got addicted to it immediately
-
it's really underrated. The later levels are harder then most other mario games.
-
Really bland, bad level design, lots of cheap deaths, horrible music. Definitely a disappointment and not a patch on the original.
-
Man, I wish I could jump in here to defend the level design's honor, as I remember really liking about half of it, but too bad I don't remember enough detail to go into specifics.

there was a time when i was going to buy a DS just to play this game.
