Everyone has a dialect. You wouldn't think I had an accent until I said the words 'light', 'right', 'ate' or saw the I pronounced 'cot' and 'caught' the same, which most general American speakers don't (though I can't remember about northern accents).

1. Should you tell a male co-worker "happy Valentines day"? Two of us agreed you don't have to, in fact it's best not to. The other dude argued it's a "sign of good faith," whatever the fuck that means, to say it, especially to older men. smh

2. Should you always send your mom something on Valentines Day? I say yes, just a card; I know my dad got her some stuff so I don't feel obligated to give her flowers or candy (although I have done it before). One friend says you aren't technically obligated to send anything unless your mom is a widow. The other friend says you should send a card AND a gift.

I just went to Togos for some warm food. I ordered a pastrami sandwich with onions and peppers, and then a large bowl of chili with onions and cheese. Employee asked me if I was sure about that order, with a look of "Thats the dinner of a man no woman is touching tonight" on his face.

My grandmother from my mother's side got really sick while she was visiting on the holiday season, she was even admitted into our local hospital. Two months later, she passed away. That was in 1996.
Now my grandma from my father's side died on the second day of Ramadan's Eid in 2004, she was sick for the majority of that year though, so it was expected.

God rest their souls.

I've got all four of my grandparents still. I even knew five of my eight great grandparents while I was in elementary school. Last one passed away when I was in 5th grade.
