A steam version would be cool but Origin seems more likely, no? Would smash an iPad version tho...

I never got past the first dungeon in BG2. It was so so so annoying.
When I played BG1 for the first time a few years ago I found the ramp up to be much more enjoyable and was only annoyed in the end game.

never played bg2 because of that

That's the best part of BG1. I can't remember an RPG that has made the opening hours of a game reflect how weak you are as a low level character

and that was the end of my time in baldurs gate

This is a good thing, because it's such a long-ass game that shallow combat would be unbearable after a couple of hundred hours. BG/BG2 just keep on giving the more you play. But it may not be for you.
