Ratchet & Clank 1-3 in 1080p & 60fps :o
and 3D + trophies.
Finally get an HD collection of a game series I like, where I haven't played the originals so I may actually play them instead of having them sit in a backlog (to be fair, I did play Ico/SoTC HD because they're the best games ever).
How are the PS2 Ratchets? I've only played the PS3 ones and a Crack in Time was fricken great, while Tools of Destruction was good for a launch era title, but in reality was just alright.

Ratchet and Clank Going Commando (2) and Crack in Time are my favorite games in the series. Ratchet 3 is great too.
Controls are different than the PS3 Ratchet games that control more like third person shooters. That's one thing you'll need to get used to.

First one is shit. 2 and 3 are great though.
-
The 2nd and 3rd are vastly superior to the ps3 games, real talk.

A Crack in Time is awesome.

No Deadlocked? What the hell.
This is out in the UK on May 16th but America has to wait until the Fall. What the hell is up with that?
deadlocked was horrible,it removed all the thing that made ratchet a cool game and reduced it to a lame multiplayer game, can't say i can fault them for not putting in it

Yeah, I'm with you Oscar. I think these HD releases are nice for a few reasons.
1. If you never played the games, this is a good chance to play them finally.
2. If you feel like replaying some of these games because you really enjoy replaying them and it's been years, it's nice playing them with a bit of new shine.
3. For archival purposes, having some truly great games at non-ugly ass PS2 IQ and in progressive-scan instead of interlace. Kind of like having definitive PC versions of games for archival purposes for the years to come so they hold up better.
The only "HD" re-releases that have been games I never played have been Jak 3, Sly 1-3, and now Ratchet 1-3. I thought Sly Collection would be rad because I never played the originals, but uh, then I heard the originals weren't actually good games in the first place! I played a little of Sly 1 and it seemed...ok. Still plan to play them at some point but don't have the enthusiasm after reading how bad the series apparently gets.
But replaying Ico/SoTC was one of the high points of my 2011 gaming as well. I hadn't replayed them since they came out, so they were old enough that it was a really fun replay and the 3D effect in ICO gave it new life, while the framerate in SoTC did that as well.

I have Ico/SotC, MGS, and Sly collection. Including XBLA/PSN stuff, there's Rez, Outrun 2, Beyond Good and Evil, and I'm getting Jet Set Radio for sure.
Sly collection is the one I sorta regret, and not because I dislike the games at all, but I'm not nearly as interested in replaying them. Same reason I'm not too interested in this Ratchet collection, or the Jak collection, or the God of War 1&2 collection. My problem is that I've already played most of these games before. I'd be more excited if games I didn't play were in HD.
I still appreciate that these are coming out and there are other packs I'm buying, like the ZoE Collection. And I still need to get God of War Ghost of Sparta since I haven't played that on the PSP.
The situation on PSN needs to be cleared up. From what I understand you can only buy these games separately on Playstation Plus, and it doesn't apply to all games.
I also have the metroid prime trilogy on wii, but that's not so much an HD collection as it is a rerelease with other additions. wait, if remakes count too then there's OoT 3DS, Ape Escape PSP, and a whole bunch more.

There's a new Ratchet PSN coming called Full Frontal Assault. Supposedly around Quest For Booty size, only with online multiplayer and more replayability (???).
-
Infamous Festival of Blood released at only $10 and has more content than QFB, but it does reuse a lot from Infamous 2.
I like these stand alone mini-sequels, though. Alan Wake American Nightmare game is another one. Minerva's Den for Bioshock 2 and RDR Undead Nightmare should've been standalone too. Red Faction 1 had a separate DLC campaign that is pretty decent (included with the PC version).
-
Yeah, I mentioned it in the gaming news thread.
The problem is that QfB was pretty terrible. It was very half-assed and now that Insomniac has moved on and their major focus is on their "NEXT BIG THING" I'm inclined to think any QfB style PSN effort to keep the franchise alive will be with their B-team and just as half-assed.
Or maybe it could be by the new team there that did the absolutely horrible 4p coop game! :(
Needless to say I'm not getting any hopes up for this. Way more excited for the HD collection since I haven't played the originals and I'm sure they will be better games.

Sony is so Nintendo

Looking backwards instead of forwards seems to have become prevalent among Japanese companies.

Late people are late to this thread.

Yep, sounds like the new Insomniac studio in North Carolina that did All 4 One is doing this and future R&C games.
Oh well, Ratchet had a good run :-\

B-teams usually start out making handheld games with SCEA, instead this one is given the reigns to kill a franchise? :yuck
