I'm too lazy to follow a team that isn't a home team
i know more about baseball than anyone in here ???

Mets :rockWait until the Mets have to face a major-leauge lineup.
Braves :piss2

Darvish looked nervous as fuck out there in the first inning.

Darvish
4 innings
7 hits
3 walks
5 ER
:bow alex anthopoulos :bow2
Still, he had an improved performance overall, so that's definitely a good sign.
What is that called. I thought it was a save if you catch a ball before it hits the ground :fbm
For sure. Os are looking quite a bit better than they did at the start of last year, though. I'm optimistic for a ~.480 year.
Darvish had his best start so far. 6.1 innings, 2 hits, 1 run, and 5 strike outs. The only real downside to his outing was 5 walks, definitely something he needs to continue working on there.
Here's a fun fact: In Yu Darvish's last 25 innings [which is all of this season except the first inning of his first start], he's given up only 4 runs.

We beat the Tigers?!? :o

That's a heck of a lot of luck, then, to last as long as it has.

Dice-K was exceedingly lucky his entire first season.

Doesn't that imply that Dice-K's first year was actually GOOD, though?
I know it's early in the season and all that, but it's just crazy that Texas is 8.5 games ahead of Los Angeles right now.
Detroit Tigers left fielder Delmon Young has been arrested on a hate-crime harassment charge after police say he attacked a group of men and yelled anti-Semitic epithets.
Police say Young was standing outside of the Hilton New York, not far from Times Square. A group of about four Chicago tourists staying there were approached by a panhandler wearing a yarmulke. As the group walked up to the hotel doors, Young started yelling anti-Semitic epithets. Police say it's not clear who he was yelling at, but he got into a tussle with one of the Chicago group, who sustained scratches to his elbows.

Wow. Pujols still doesn't have a homer in 72 AB and his OPS is down to .601.
Bryce Harper was (intentionally) beaned by Cole Hamels. He later stole home on a pickoff to 1B, as a fuck you. Kid is fucking LEGIT, holy shit.

I assume he isn't going to be sent down?
Didn't you have him on your aborted keeper team?
Best record in baseball? Baltimore. :boggle

Josh Hamilton...4 home runs in one game, for a total of 8 RBIs. Only 15 other players have had that any home runs in a game and the last was Carlos Delgado in 2003.
Why are the Tigers struggling? I need something smart to say at work next time people discuss baseball. Right now I plan on saying "well there's a lot of uncertainty with the bats, you don't know who's gonna be hitting hard except Prince." But that's probably not the smartest thing
I'd say all of baseball, but... Matt Kemp.
I'd say all of baseball, but... Matt Kemp.
Their numbers are virtually identical, except Hamilton has more runs and slightly higher slugging and Kemp has slightly higher OBP.
baseball bros, is this a good move?

I sure hope Gundam saw that Felix perfecto.
Cajole! You'll be happy to know that Johan Santana has tied an MLB record!
...for most consecutive starts giving up at least 6 earned runs in a row!spoiler (click to show/hide)Don't worry, he's in good company- tied with Mike Hampton![close]
So, living in Illinois, I've started following the Cubs since they are on the radio.
But seriously, why the fuck aren't the White Sox on the radio down here? Only in baseball is the most popular team the one with a 100 plus year World title dry spell.
yankees :lol :lol
I still have trouble believing the Nationals are this good after years of shittiness.
The Orioles make no fucking sense. NONE. They have a negative run differential and are 17 games above .500 for fucks sakes.
The more important story is that despite a strong start, the Pirates are very close to achieving their 20th losing season in a row.
At least I got to see the 18th inning of their win over the Mariners. Best part was the dismayed Yankees fan who had stayed the whole time just to root against Baltimore.
Triple fucking Crown.

Trout is still the MVP

I don't think so. I think Cabrera wins it, because the writers will fall back on the "his team made the playoffs and wouldn't without him" canard. Also, there's a lot of anti-stat dork sentiment floating around right now. It's gonna be close either way.
I wish Kimbrel would win the NL Cy Young, but I doubt it. Even though, you know, he struck out over half the dudes he faced this year. Dude's a beast.

Oh no, you're right that Cabrera will win it. Just saying Trout should.
And I just can't get behind a reliever winning Cy Young, sorry. If there's any season that deserves it, it's his, but no.

Personally, I just can't justify giving it to Dickey or Gonzalez over Kimbrel. There's no way you can make an objective case that they were better as starters than he was as a closer.
::)
Kimbrel pitched in more games and impacted more games than any starter. So, uh, yeah. Also, and this is most imporant, HE WAS BETTER AT HIS JOB THAN GONZALES AND DICKEY WERE AT THEIRS. Period. No way to spin out of that one.
FUCK THIS GAY EARTH
FUCK THIS GAY EARTH
NEW YORK—Following Raul Ibanez’s walk-off home run in Game 3 of the American League Division Series last night, slumping Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez—who was replaced by Ibanez in the bottom of the ninth inning—reportedly congratulated his teammate and wished him an untimely death. “I don’t think there was anyone in the ballpark more excited for Raul than me, and I’d like him to die slowly in some extremely painful way, preferably while his entire family watches,” a smiling Rodriguez said during a postgame press conference, adding that he is proud to be Ibanez’s teammate and that he’d really like him to die in the next 24 hours. “Maybe something where he is strangled to death or stabbed repeatedly in the chest and stomach and face. I think it would also be nice if he was forced to walk out onto a frozen pond at gunpoint, and then he just fell through the cracked ice and drowned. Something like that. I’m so happy for Raul.” At press time, Raul Ibanez had not been seen by anyone in the past 12 hours.
You know the nats are going to blow this... I feel like I have seen this before.
The only way this could possibly turn out well is if it's a Yankees-Cards world series and the earth opens up and swallows both franchises whole
So many tears on my facebook feed tonight. :'(
But seriously though, fuck everything.

Go Tigres!
Tigers have a chance?
Brutal. Tigers showed up for the World Series like I show up for class.
DICKEY
So the Rays are a fucking machine. That is all.
Michael Young, Mike Napoli, and (probably) Mike Adams are all gone. Who will the Rangers cut loose next? Michael Jordan? Michael Schumacher? Mike Huckabee?
so glad of my team literally trading away all their good players...not
If Alderson gets d'Arnaud for Dickey, I'd be pretty happy. And I think the Jays should do it.

You'll get JP Arencibia and Omar's twitter fuckbuddy and like it.
Thoughts on the Tigers/Sanchez signing?
Greinke . . . 14.1 fWAR, 7.9 rWAR

Jack Morris 67.7%
OK, that's actually the worst part of the balloting.
I might actually try to go to the 2014 induction ceremony- Maddux, Glavine and Cox will all be getting inducted. Maybe Schuerholz too.

Mussina > Glavine. But you're right. I hope Jack Morris gets in with them so it's kinda ruined.

Ehhh... marginally. They're very similar across the board- Mussina had better control, pitched in a tougher league and had more strikeouts. He also compiled his numbers in 4 fewer years than Glavine. Glavine will get the nod for sure because of ZOMG 300 WINS though.
If anything, Morris will lose support with all of the pitchers going on the ballot for the first time next year.

Obviously I'm biased, but what do you guys think about Smoltz's chances to make the HoF? For me he's HoF worthy, but again, BIAS and whatnot.
Sorry Cajole, turns out he's straight after all
