Title: CANADA ELIMINATES THE PENNY!!!!

What will us crazy Canucks do next?!

Yeah milk in bags just seems like a bad idea based on storage convenience and I'd be willing to bet accidental punctures are an issue at the grocery store.

It's not an issue; the plastic is pretty strong. It's probably easier to puncture a carton.

they slashed the environment budget by 8%
Canadian Forces get $1.1 billion in cuts,
Katimavik is getting axed.
public service pensions have been adjusted so that they pay in 50/50
RCMP, CSC, SCIS and CBSA funding cut by $687M. 9.9% of total budget for these agencies.
Public Works cut by $177.6 million.

Ya, a guy on a police forum did the math and figured it will cost each Mountie about $2800/year more in pension contributions.

That's just an educated guess based on how they've viewed such programs in the past, though.

My presumption isn't that the women would be raped (and then shoot in self-defense) if they had guns; it would be that they would shoot people whom they think will rape them, whether that's true or not.

That would get the women arrested and charged with all sorts of firearm offences, which, as I understand, will be subject to some mandatory minimums in the not-too-distant future.

And/or, the prospective rapists would become murderers instead, as if the women pulled a gun, they'd just pull their own and shoot.

And homicides tend to be reported in this country, whereas a whole lot of rapes are not.
