Title: CPU temps
Post by: Cerveza mas fina on April 08, 2012, 09:22:48 PM
My lappy was running around 85 degrees while playing D3/SC2. I maxed the fps in D3 to 35 and lowered the physics and now it seems to run around 75.

Should I get a laptop cooler to bring down the temps even further? My ambient temp is around 45 it seems.

One thing I made sure was to let the fan holes breath. I bought a laptop stand and after a while I moved the laptop more towards the sides so it was kinda hanging out, exposing the fan hole underneath. I also got a fan control application and forced the fans to full speed whenever I played a game.

I read cpu cores can go up to about 99C and throttle themselves down as they get too hot.

But in the long run it's probably better to get the temp down.  My 2 case fans were pretty much dead and my cores were like 60C ambient, 82C maxed and after replacing them it went to like 40C ambient, 60C maxed and I feel like the world is less likely to end now.  Not sure how much you can change in a laptop to improve cooling though.

85C is hot but not anything to fret over. 90C+? FREAK OUT REPASTE TIME.

I get freaked out if my (desktop) CPU gets close or above 60C lol, but I'm just a paranoid dude

smooth sailing at 39C right now :rock

Mine is at a cool, cool 32 c right now.  Doesn't ever really get above the mid to high 40's even when I'm playing something awesome.

Same but in exchange I have something that sounds like a jet engine in my room for 5 or 6 hours a day. :(

I went to the biggest shopping mall in Dublin, thus the biggest shopping mall in Ireland. Not a single PC store.

SMH.

Guess I'll have to try again or order online. Id like to get my temp down to 70 while playing.
