This is the final "Operation Rainfall" game to come out in English.
General story is: Chick is cursed to turn into a beast. You hunt the flesh of monsters and shove them down her throat, cementing your status as a Feeder (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fat_fetishism).
Visuals look decent, much better than Last Story anyway.
That's all I got really. Will post more for those who cares when I play more.
-
http://www.fantasyfeeder.com has a grate review

Is this the really bad one or just the kinda bad one?

NoA (Reggie) sucks. This game sounds hella :uguu

this is the average one. last story was the bad one. xenoblade was the only one that anyone should have cared about getting localized.
Where is Zangeki on that scale?
-
So, I'm about half way done now.
This game is a huge take on Fat Fetishes and the mundane life of marriage.
There are two parts to this game.
One half involves you going to 13 various floors, and making your way up to a boss, which you defeat. The bosses so far have been different each time with their approach, but the result is the same - beat them up so they reveal their core, then yank that fucker out like a tooth. I have enjoyed each boss so far.

While you're in the tower, there is a time limit in the corner that says "oh shit your girlfriend is gonna turn into a monster" - so as you fight monsters you can rip out their flesh. When you make your way back, you stuff your girlfriend with this raw, throbbing, purple meat. As she eats it, she begins to cry, knowing she was raised to in fact not eat me, she gorges on this anyway.
Initially, she gags and coughs. As you keep feeding her, she begins to enjoy it... even so much as to lick her lips gleefully. In my earlier post, you can see I linked to an article that explains this is called "Feederism" - where you derive sexual enjoyment from gorging and getting fat.
Upon eating a master flesh, she then gets a meat-induced orgasm and has a flashback to another time, explaining more of the backstory of the game.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UyVJWtIeEh8&t=1m0s
As with any meat-induced orgasm, she promptly passes out and goes to sleep.
The other part of the game revolves around having a strong bond, and all that relationship bullshit. Essentially it involves you being a good boyfriend and treating your waifu like a princess. You talk to her and listen to her make noises, you spend your hard earned money on meaningless bullshit gifts instead of useful upgrades and healing items, and she even gets happy when you give her throbbing purple meats.
To get the best ending, you have to keep throwing your money at her and keeping her happy.
The game hasn't been very difficult, and the controls work well. There is minimal waggle involved, mostly for doing the "ripping" motion, or aiming your chain at stuff. You can use a Classic Controller, but the game was very much designed for the remote, unfortunately.
The story is very non-existent, and somehow is more engaging than the entirety of The Last Story. Graphically it looks better than The Last Story as well. What I'm saying is, The Last Story sucks ass.
This game would be an ok purchase if it came to America, as at this point you should take anything that comes your way.
For those who want to experience the mundane life of marriage, or the exciting world of fat fetishism, Pandora's Tower has you covered.
-
Sounds amazing. :lol
-
I'm not big on stories in jRPGs, but the one here seems kind of cool. I'll give this a shot if I can ever get my hands on it.
-
This isn't really a jRPG in the sense we know, or like Xenoblade. It has RPG elements, but I'd be hard-pressed to label it as such.
-
is there any crafting system or the like?
-
You can craft stuff, though most of it is rather useless and the recipies are given to you. You can experiment but I'm not sure if you can find anything beyond what you're offered to make anyway.
-

This needs to be on the US box somewhere if it gets brought over. :lol
-
Bleh, the last two towers are disguised as one and involve a light/dark warping mechanism.
-
wtf....... I got Ending A. There are 5 endings (S - D), but thankfully the game lets you reload from any chapter (well certain parts) so you can make your waifu happier to get the best ending, or get worse endings. You can make your waifu angry by giving her shitty items like bones and fangs and other stuff.
Last Boss was kinda lame, and the music for it was very unfitting.
-
This game's pretty damn decent.
I can't quite afford it right now and I didn't expect it to be any good anyway, so I gave it a rent over the weekend. The concept was always quite intriguing to me and I thought that it would be good enough for one or two hours worth of fun.
To begin with, I think that the story and art-design are pretty great. The background story is unique in an awesomely disturbing way, the art-design isn't anything special but it's interesting to look at and gives me a little ICO vibe. Pretty cool. I think the first five minutes are already more intriguing than the whole of Last Story's architecture and story, no kidding.
Story-wise it's all a big mystery in the beginning. There's that cursed girl who's slowly turning into some tree-monster and the only way to cure it is giving her the hearts of some disturbing monsters to eat (and as demi sad, when she eats these hearts she's making bizarre orgasm sounds and that's not enough: she even moves accordingly. :lol ). There's the player character who's kind of a bland white knight, who's doing everything to save his beloved one. And there's some kind of strange demon merchant grandma who's obviously not to be trusted, but hey, you trust her anyway, because she's awesome. Oh, and then there's the 13 towers that are floating above a big chasm and which are holding the world together with some pairs of giant-ass-chains. The world is quite nice, really. The story isn't the main focus of the game and it doesn't really move forwards for quite some time, but it's still omnipresent in its own way. It's kind of like ICO: the story is a little in the background, but what is given to you makes you feel pretty immersed with the world and gives a great atmosphere. It feels like more than just the sum of its parts.
The gameplay? Not quite as interesting. The combat is a little shallow, the boss fights are not as epic as I thought and the usage of your own chain could be fleshed out more. When I finished the first tower I actually felt confirmed with the assumptions I made before I started playing the game: It has a nice idea, it's fun to play, but not fun enough to keep my interest. At that point I turned off the console and thought that I'd probably never touch the game again.
Well, I was wrong. I booted it up today morning again and ... I played. And I played more. And I couldn't stop playing. I'm now at the sixth tower and after pretty much every tower I was thinking "okay, it's enough, I'll stop playing for now". But I didn't. I don't even quite know what is capturing my interest, but something is.
Long story short: If you have the chance to play it, give it a try. It really is worth it. It won't make any GotY lists, but it's the kind of game that will be considered a "hidden gem" in a few years time. It's flawed, but nevertheless fun and even though it doesn't do anything groundbreakingly new it still feels fresh and interesting. It's not quite the stuff I'd want to pay fullprice for (and the LE is quite lame), but I think I'll be able to pick it up for 30€ in a few months.
Oh, and it's a better looking game as Last Story by any means. It's running smoothly, it doesn't try to shoehorn some next-generation effects on the Wii and even the image quality is quite good for a Wii game. Though, after Last Story's vomit-like IQ everything is better to look at.
-
This one is a bit of a spoiler, but for discussion sake, let's add one more notch into this fucked up game: INCEST :omg
-
Also the game took me roughly 20 hours to finish. I finished it over the course of a weekend. lol
-
Maybe because we raked NoA over the coals for passing on them in the first place? Nintendo did something good by localizing these games/allowing them to be localized (unlike, say Bamco.) NoA deserves a black eye for initially passing on them and not saying anything for so long, but that their final decision was the right one deserves at least some recognition.
-
this is the average one. last story was the bad one. xenoblade was the only one that anyone should have cared about getting localized.
this.
Also - why was Nintendo getting plaudits for these games from nthings? didn't they decide to not publish ANY of these games and left them to third parties to pick up?
Why do nthings clap Nintendo's praises after they've curled one off into their mouths. Nothing disgusts me more than moronic fans clapping like seals with what looks like a mouthful of chewed up Snickers.
What the fuck is wrong with you?

It's dcharlie.
Pretty self explanatory.
-
Yeah but why is he dcharlie?
-
Yeah but why is he dcharlie?
He's dcharlie because he is.
-
I always figured he was DreamCast Harlie, but that sounds lame, don't it?
almost as lame as Pandora's Tower.
-
"Pandora's Tower" doesn't even make sense in the context of the game. There's nobody named Pandora and they keep making these hints about the whole mythology to Pandora but it still makes no sense. The game is about getting off on getting fat, pleasing your wife (and getting no sex out of it), and incest.
-

Given The Last Story is likely going to be the last game with a budget Sakaguchi ever makes I can understand wanting that.
This game on the other hand is made by Ganbarian, has visuals that reminds me of the early PS2 days, was instantly forgotten in Japan because it wasn't anything special, and is by Ganbarian.
-
the last story didn't really have much of a budget, though. god's honest, the last time anyone gave gooch a decent bankroll was MS with lost odyssey.
and yeah pandora faded fast here (like most games) but it's not like last story fared any better. at least pandora avoided the 2000 yen and under bargain bins. last story can't say that.
Well, The Last Story will certainly have a bigger budget than "Wave On" or whatever his iOS casual crowd game is called.
The only reason I can see this game having avoided the bomba bins is due to Nintendo being conservative regarding the shipment numbers.
I'd rather have people petition a localization of Zangief No Ragnsomething by Sandlot.

Where is Zangeki on that scale?
.
-
nah, reggie-love ain't worth it either
i'm not saying pandora was worth translating, in fact, i clearly said it wasn't. but it's *more* worth translating than last story, which is a big ol' shit rock.
and takao, you'll have to forgive me, but you don't really strike me as a guy with his finger on the pulse of the japanese games market.
I, and I imagine many of the operation rainfall supporters likely never played any of those three games and only went off of trailers, pedigree, and praise. Xenoblade had the praise, and while The Last Story apparently failed to live up to its pedigree it was in what we thought were capable hands. Then we have Pandora's Tower, which seemed pretty janky in the trailers, and didn't really have any pedigree or praise behind it. To me it seemed like the worst of the trio based on that, but I have yet to play any of them (though I want to play Xenoblade), and so you'd know more than I.
The majority of the games I do play are Japanese, and before I got banned on GAF I was a regular in the Media Create thread. I might not be importing every game that interests me, but I'd like to think I know at least something, haha.
-
I am just about to order this and Nier. You probably won't have time to stop me before I click the button. I blame demi for making this sound hilarious.
-
It's not really a bad game, I enjoyed it to a point... it can get super boring if you marathon it like I did. Take it a chapter/tower at a time.
Last Story was the real stinker of the group.
-
So no one here played Zangeki no Rengindininidavinchi?
-
No cause it looks like shit
-
No cause it looks like shit
Well I'd still like to know for sure....

Sandlot, where's EDF4 man
-
Sandlot, where's EDF4 man
Didn't Sandlot say they were working on EDF4 back when Insect Armaggedon was announced?
-
It was announced alongside EDF2 for PSP (which is a sad, but expected no show localization) in either 2010 or 2011. I'm just wondering where it be at. I don't expect EDF4 to be like 2017 and come out early next gen.
-
Sandlot is probably dead :\
-
Sandlot was one of the king's of low budget (you'd have to be to be able to make good games in the Simple series), and EDF2 PSP sold very well. Why would you think they'd be dead?
-
This gen was really hard on them. No PS2-equivalent where the sort of games they make could do well, other than PSP (at a stretch). I hope they're ok, but I just caught a case of the glooms from Bebpo.
-

I dunno, just been very quiet from them since Regenliev. There were some rumors around the time western-poor-EDF came out that Sandlot was busy working on a real EDF4 but it's just been very quiet. Plus after western-poor-EDF bombed completely for D3, it's possible they could can EDF4 because they think there's no audience.
I'll give them until TGS to announce a new project. Otherwise I'm just going to assume they're dead or will become an outsource programming team for other people's games like Tri-ace has become.
You know, what if that new Vita game announcing on the 10th is by Sandlot? Them doing a monster hunter type action game with big monsters doesn't seem that far fetched and it's about the size studio Sony could probably get to make an exclusive Vita title.
-
EDF4 was actually announced.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3F1EOBy3hOE
It was in December 2010 though.
How poorly did IA do?
-
How is the PSP version of EDF2? I'm guessing the controls suck.
-
man, Sandlot going under would suck mighty badly. I didn't know that Tri-Ace (and Tri-Cresendo too I suppose, same thing right?) were regulated to Tose/Cavia status of doing the legwork for other studio's games.
Man, this gen kinda sucks.
-
tri-Ace released a 3DS game, Beyond the Labyrinth, and a PSP game, Frontier Gate, within the past few months. Tri-Crescendo has a Digimon game coming out for the PSP in July.
-
Konami should've gotten Tri-Ace to do Suikoden PSP instead of whoever they did get.
-
It's nice to see Operation Rainfall championing the localization of more janky games (now Earth Seeker) ... Eh, whatever if it somehow gets me Super DBZ 2 I'm not complaining.
-
They should champion Sorny to bring over Malicious, Dark Mist (RIP Game Republic), and Everybody's (Hot Shots) Putter Golf with Toro. Those games more closely resemble being good than Earth Seeker, are actually in English on the Hong Kong, and European PSN stores, and are on a platform that won't be never heard of past 2011.
-
Did anyone actually play Earth Seeker?
-
Apparently if they did they wouldn't want it over here? So I'm gonna say 'no'.
-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yv7E9oijq0c
the video kinda makes it looks like a lame ripoff of PSO
-
Crafts & Meister should just make a Super DBZ 2. Someone might actually buy it this time.*
*The game actually sold pretty well in Japan (but I don't know if that was bomba related or something), and was supposedly pretty popular in arcades. In the west though? lol :(

All these games look like shit.

Dark Mist, maybe. But the other two? Nah.
