I'm not sure what it is, but I think she already sees me as alpha even above my folks.
She follows me everywhere, last night she slept in MY bed, if she's outside she will stare at me from the window constantly;etc. I find this weird that she probably sees me as her alpha?
Not that I'm complaining, but I'm trying to understand the dog/master relationship because I never had an inside dog before.

Himu: It's probably because she can smell more testosterone on you than she can off your ma and pa. Maintain it. Because it's easy to lose the status and then hard as hell to get it back. Practice basic commands with her, be consistent and do exercises like setting boundaries to solidify your status. Don't think of it as punishment, they love boundaries. For example, get her to sit and then start to walk around the room. She'll try to follow you at first. Stop and make a sound that you want her to associate with wrong behavior. I do a "tsk". Make her sit down again. Then move around. And when you can move around the room while she sits and she doesn't get up until you give her permission, give her a treat. Or open up the door with her on a leash at first. She'll go to run out first. Make your "disapproval noise" and tap her butt with your foot. Make her sit down. This will let you leave the door open without fearing that she'll run off. And you can also practice you stepping outside before her. The alpha always goes first. So make her sit until you step outside and then give her permission to come out. This kind of stuff works their brains and it's fun for them. It's not punishment so don't feel bad.
Something else that is fun to do every once in a while is to split up her dinner in a few different piles around the house. Encourage her to look for it. She loves using her brain and "hunting" for her dinner. These are all games you can play to tire them out mentally. A mentally tired dog at the end of the day is a happy dog. Just like they like to be physically tired.

What kind of leash? I know you can adjust some so it's not a choker (I always used to put it on wrong because I'm a spaz tho - and now I suddenly really miss my dog, damn :( )

This muzzle kind that you tie around the neck. Sometimes the muzzle slips off her mouth and then acts as an extension to the collar.

the other day i was playing dog videos of dogs barking so lex could have some fun. she just stared at my computer speakers looking around for the dog. then she peed on my room's floor, did that kick thing that they do to give off their scent, and then looked at me after she gave a gruff ,"hmmph!" sound. I burst into tears laughing. I was too busy laughing to be mad at her while picking up her pee with me carpet cleaner vac.

Meiko loves YouTube, and if she even thinks I'm checking out videos, she's on my lap. She likes anything with Shibas (doesn't really care for videos of normal dogs) but has several favorite videos featuring real life shiba-friends.

Edit: I just spent 20 fucking minutes putting my F3 button back on my god damn laptop. She caught me with YT open, came running, and pawed the button off in one swipe. Good thing she's so darn cute and sweet. :heart

My dog is an attention whore and I love her. I can't get her to watch youtube videos. I turn on youtube and she just stares at me and licks leg/arm/hand then tries to jump in my lap with her big self.
She is a dog who think she's a cat, I swear.
