as a psx kid,the sega saturn has always made me curious,so i was wondering if there was anything interessing on it,this game in particular as always made me curious since it reminds me of lunar silver star

I've actually got that game, never really played it a whole lot, though.
-
Nope, Saturn is doodoo
-
As a kid I thought the only SEGA platforms were the Game Gear, Genesis, and Dreamcast.
-
Albert Odyssey is pretty lame. Buy (lol) Magic Knight Rayearth instead, magus-chan. ~uguu~
-
saturn is great but only if you have money
magooses need not apply
-
saturn is only great if you include imports. the western games, while good, aren't enough to support the system on its own.
as it is, genesis and dreamcast are better.
-
ill sell you all my saturn shit for a cool grand
-
cool consoles with lots of very interesting titles, but it gets expensive if you go legit.
-
the only good Saturn game

-
Free Saturn games from Opa Opa!

There are lots of good Saturn games, but Astal isn't one of them.
-
does che still have them?
The first time I ever met Che at a party in Tokyo I asked him if he ever gave Opa back his Saturn games. He was unamused
-
No mention of Panzer Dragoon Saga ITT? I thought that game was supposed to be the most amazing thing evar and one of the most expensive Saturn games to get second hand.
-
Saturn is very much a magus system. Lots jrpgs, treasure games, niche stuff. A lot of them got ported to Playstation though.
Shining Force 3
Guardian Heroes
Radient Silvergun
Fire Pro Wrestling 6 Man Scramble
Bomberman 10 player edition
Grandia
Policenauts
Devil Summoner
Soul Hackers
Metal Slug (best port)
Xmen vs SF (best port)
Marvel vs SF (best port)
Street Fighter Alpha 3 (best port)
Darkstalkers 3 (best port)
Nights
Daytona USA
Sega Rally
Virtua Fighter 1, remix, 2
Burning Rangers
Dragon Force
Fighters Megamix
Panzer Dragoon 1, 2, Saga
World Series Baseball
Anything that was 3D doesn't hold up anymore. The 2D stuff still does.

My Saturn is no longer of this world (power connector came loose, I re-soldered it and it worked for ages but eventually died) but have a few gems around for it. When emulation is a bit better i'll spend more time with my old collection again
-
Spiritual Assassin Taromaru, Silhouette Mirage and Shinobi Legions are great.

If you like trashy but rad games, consider Battle Monsters and Virtual Hydlide.
Yoyo's Puzzle Park is awesome. There was a PS1 version, dunno which is better.
Some Saturn versions of shmups are superior to the arcade versions but mostly you're better off with MAME for that stuff.
-
Dragon Force, it's been so long.
-
I loved the Saturn for it's amazing arcade games:
Virtua Fighter
Virtua Fighter 2
Sega Rally
Daytona CCE
Virtua Cop
Virtua Cop 2
:drool

Due to its internal structure I dont think emulation will ever work properly :/
-

Satourne
Yabuase
SFF
those are really the only three saturn emus in town
-
SSF is the only good one. I used it to play Legend of Thor (Beyond Oasis 2)
-
I have a Beyond Oasis gens cart, going to have to see about getting the sequel
-
cool consoles with lots of very interesting titles, but it gets expensive if you go legit.
magus, going legit? :lol :lol :lol
Tengai Makyou: The Apocalypse IV is amazing if you don't mind playing with a walkthrough, it's a really goofy parody RPG that takes place in a fucked up version of America at the turn of the 20th century. Also you'd probably like Tryrush Deppy, a sidescrolling game with vivid 2D graphics starring an anthropomorphic taxi cab. Probably the only game that has a level based on my college hometown of Buffalo NY to my knowledge.
The Japanese Saturn is a treasure trove of decent, super-obscure RPGs. Linkle Liver Story, from the makers of Crusader of Centy (GAU/Nextech) is a cool action RPG with a furry theme and great music. Blue Seed is some weird card-based RPG with 90's anime visuals, that I can't really figure out. There's the Samurai Showdown RPG (also on PS1 and Neo Geo CD), the Langrisser games (amazing SRPG series), Vanillaware's breakout title Princess Crown, Terra Phantastica a SRPG. I buy a ton of import RPGs for the system since they are so cheap, even if I can only follow half of what's going on.
Domestically, the system has these RPGs:
Mystaria - dated-feeling SRPG from Micro Cabin, one of the earliest RPGs for the system
Legend of Oasis - sequel to Beyond Oasis, plays a bit better than that one I think
Dark Savior - pseudo-sequel to Landstalker, mostly an isometric puzzle-platformer with a really strange one-on-one duel fighting system
Albert Odyssey - haven't played, heard that the encounter rate kills it
Dragon Force - interesting strategy game that a lot of people love, but I haven't put enough time into yet, really showed off the Saturn's sprite pushing abilities
Magic Knight Rayearth - charming action RPG based off the anime, attractive graphics but a bit on the easy side
Panzer Dragoon Saga - best RPG on the system bar none
Shining the Holy Ark - first-person dungeon crawl by Camelot, I own but haven't played yet
Shining Wisdom - horrible Zelda-esque game with bad control (you have to constantly be hitting the B button to run, otherwise you move like a snail) and poor hit detection.
-
i played princess crown on psp,it was really cool, like someone made a full game out of a CPS2 board but i gave halfway up after i got tired of fighting all those kanji's
i didn't realize the saturn had guardian heroes,i've always wanted to play that, goofy treasure games are the best so i'm going to start with that
SSF is the only good one. I used it to play Legend of Thor (Beyond Oasis 2)
yeah i'm using SSF too,the latest version (0.11?) gave me problem but 0.9 runs nice and clean
-
I used 0.12 beta
-
SSF does not have any in-built support for loading disk images; in order for games to be run they must either be mounted by a 3rd-party program (such as Alcohol 120% or Daemon Tools) or by use of genuine Saturn discs placed in the host computer's optical drive.
motherfucking nerds :piss2
-
It's really no different than loading up a disc image. You need to install DAemon Tools anyway if you pirate PC games... ???
-
yeah, but i just prefer it when i can open the emu and select what game i want to play from a list
-
you guys are a bunch of lamers, good thing there is at least bebpo :maf
I already told you what game to play.
-
magic knight rayearth is total weeaboo and stupid easy, but it's still a fun enough arpg. i miss that game :uguu
-
"We choose to play Sega Saturn at the round table of the time travelling Rolls Royce" - Silver Synth, Analog Brothers "Analog Technics"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oKHJeIDjVwc
I've always loved that line. Note that the song was released after the Dreamcast. The album mentions a lot of retro technologies
-
yeah, but i just prefer it when i can open the emu and select what game i want to play from a list
You could probably just have the emu auto boot whatever iso is in drive x: upon startup, then just list all your isos in alcohol you'd have the user experience you want plus less clicks.
