You know you're in the presence of a real man when you break up a group of people dissing Diesel by uttering "but he did Pitch Black" and someone gives you a head nod. Then you dap and go on your way
-
Its too bad Riddick got made, what a dumpy film that was.

Pitch Black is awesome. Diesel is best as an anti-hero superhero.

Sequel will redeem it!
-
Best Alien rip-off since Alien.
-
Movie sucks
-
I've never seen it.
Edit: Oh look, it's on Netflix.

Pitch Black is really, really good.
-
if you hated pitch black you hate movies
-
I forgot how good it was- it had been so long
-
He can tell shes a girl by her oozing cunt
-
"i absolutely believe in god, and i absolutely hate the fucker"
Movie touched off my Vin crush.
-
David Twohy has had a pretty excellent career as a director, Chronicles of Riddick notwithstanding. Pitch Black does kick massive ass, but Below, A Perfect Getaway, and The Arrival ain't nothing to sneeze at either.
-
Can't wait for Riddick 3. :rock
Edit: The Dark Fury animated mini-movie by Peter Chung is actually pretty good, too.
-
I think Twohy might be gay, and possibly have a thing for mmm threesomes, this is using nominative determinism on his surname.
-
Also yes for Pitch Black, CoR was amazing design and not much else.
-
CoR had some lines that were hilarious although not meant to be. My friends and I would just recite them randomly, such as:
"you keep what you kill"
"where did he come from, who are his people, these are the things I need to know"
-
CoR is a bad movie with a great Riddick, because Riddick the character, is always awesome.
The ending to CoR is worth the price of sitting through the whole film. The sequel to that is pretty much the film I'm most hyped for next year. Hoping it's an earlier 2013 release!
From the man himself:
“The studio said the earliest they could release the new “Riddick” is in January… was hoping for 2012… but, it’s on the horizon.
It would be nice if they made another GOOD Riddick game. Not like the port of Butcher Bay + crappy expansion.

:lol
-
CoR's ending was great cause they replay you keep what you kill like its possible to not get that part.
-
CoR gets a bad rap.
The entire Crematoria stretch is fantastic and makes the whole movie worth watching. SO many good scenes
Riddick climbing the chain then spinning down and landing on his feet
The teacup scene
The breakout and the line "Cause it was my plan."
The surface run!
The big fight near the hanger
And the directors cut adds a lot and makes the movie much better.
-
Watching the DC of Riddick it makes it seem like Universal was interfering with the movie too much to try to make it into a big blockbuster franchise.
Thankfully Riddick 3 is supposed to be closer to Pitch Black's tone, and is rated R.
But Universal did like what they saw and asked Diesel and Twohy how soon they could have Furya and Underverse ready to be made.
-
I dont know if I saw the DC- you guys have convinced me to give it another go
-
The DC isn't a game changer, but it was okay.
-
well maybe ill be a bit more accepting at least.
-

Yeah, it was as surprisingly enjoyable as CoR wasn't. Still, the love in this thread is making me want to go re-watch it.
-
Goddamn that was an awesome movie.
Yeah, the characters were great, save for the Imam and his 3 cannon fodder. I guess Hollywood couldn't be arsed to write interesting Muslim characters before 9/11.
As everyone have already pointed out, there were some really good lines too.
Visually it left me impressed, especially when you consider it's a 12 y/o movie. The solar effects during the first half and Riddick's vision were kinda iffy, but tolerable.
My favorite scene is probably the booze trader's death scene.
Most shocking scene is the one Demi mentioned. Using menstruation as a plot device gave me a pause. Kinda ballsy.

Watching Pitch Black right now, still awesome.
