WHAT IS A GREAT PLACE FOR LUNCH NEAR THE NARITA AIRPORT
i got a layover at around 1:30 tomorrow in tokyo and i need directions to THE BEST place for food in the immediate area. I PROMISE TO LOVE YOU FOREVER IF YOU TELL ME YOUR SECRETS
-
should be pretty easy, just look for a pair of Golden Arches and you will find the nearest McDonald's restaurant.
-
Hopefully J-Bore knows some places, because Narita is pretty far from the city, so if you only have 90mins to go somewhere, eat, and get back, then you might be stuck eating at the airport.
But even airport food in Japan is decent quality, so it's not a total loss if it comes to that.
-
Do you have enough time to leave the airport, get in to the town of Nartia, then come back to the airport, get through security and make your flight?
http://wikitravel.org/en/Narita <-- The town itself.

Depending on which terminal you enter, there are some good choices at the airport. Unless you have 6+ hours I would not THINK about leaving the airport. Personally I wouldn't with less than 9.
-
Whatever terminal I always get stuck in at Narita has crap choices.
-
can I hijack PT's topic for a sec?
so I just found out that a flight I'm taking in a few months stops at Narita and I have to do an airport transfer to Handa. How doable is this, and what would be the best way to go about it? Shuttle? Taxi? Train?
also, this is a 9-hour layover. sucks but I'm saving like $500 bucks on this flight so I can deal. I'm also open to exploring for a bit if that's even possible?
thanks guys.

you are basically going to have to find something in the airport i think - good news is that the food there isn't half bad! :)

ugh - it's going to cost you at least half that to get across to Narita ;)
say 1.5 hours+ wait and faffing to get into Tokyo - so ... erm... 2.5 hours - so you'd have 3 or so hours before having to head to Haneda.

aw poo; i'm only there for 5. haven't looked at a map because i just assumed it was in the city and not outside of it. hopefully there'll at least be videogame store in the airport that i can jack off inside of as tribute to our game-creating overlords.
oh well, onward to thailand!
-
Cheers XFE. that is, of course, assuming I'd do the train, right? Only been to Japan once in my life... Have been all over Asia but Japan's been fairly elusive to me. How much would a train ride across town run? Reasonable?
-
p.s. GOD I LOVE "WAKING UP" AT 2:00 A.M. TO CATCH A FLIGHT
-
GOOD LUCK BRO
-
again, figure out which international terminal you're transferring in ahead of time - there are good food options available in the airport
with 5 hours I would not leave. as DC said it's 1.5 in and 1.5 back (plus $40 each way)
-
If you've got 5 hours you can go into Narita City. It's not Tokyo, but it's something. Check out that WikiTravel link I posted earlier on.

Nope...there's a bookstore if you want to get a video game magazine though.

well a full day of awful travel on a painfully small plane later and i'm in japan! 4 more hours and i'll be gone
god decided to give me a bonus present on my flight by having four typically swarthy japanese nerd 20-somethings sit in front of me, laying their seats back way to far while the played shitty video games, watched shitty movies, and chugged so much milk that the stewardess had to cut them off.
not gonna try to run to narita, and the area around the 80-90's terminals looks pretty barren. honestly i don't give a fuck about food right now; i just want more than a single hour of unbroken sleep.
going to get some exercise now and then it's off (on another flight -8 more hours!!) to bangkok for wacky adventures! i hope to god i can find a dirt-cheap psp so the flight back won't be suicidally boring
