Title: LOUIE SEASON 3
Post by: fistfulofmetal on June 28, 2012, 11:15:27 PM
HELLO THIS SHOW WAS BACK ON TODAY IF YOU MISSED IT

impressions from tonights episode:

spoiler (click to show/hide)
The sign bit was pretty funny. His conversation with his "not" girlfriend was so painfully awkward. I was dying when the construction dudes were crushing his car. The way the backhoe just kept crushing his car. The motorcycle stuff wasn't as funny but it was all worth it for the ex-wife reveal. Then the last bit with the not girlfriend again was awesome. Oh and the stand-up in the intro was great to.

but FUCK I hate TV. every time i was laughing and it went to commercial is just killed all of it.

the joke was good until he brought up wanting to use the penis of a dead kid. then it was hilarious.

I was rather disappointed it had to be a Peutro Rican penis. That seemed like the perfect place to tell a bbc joke. Outside of that I liked the episode

I tend to watch Louis in season long blocks, but I *did* just by tickets to a stand up show in Athens, GA from his site last night so I've got that going for me.

This guy is a massively mediocre comedic talent. Basically he's tapping the Everyman zeitgeist. And in a way, acting like some sort of "invest in my quirky/dark/racist bro-shares'" salesman.

Yeah, I disagree with the statement that he's the greatest comedian in the world right now, but he's still pretty good. I prefer Doug Stanhope.

Compared to crapola like David Sedaris and Chelsea Handler, Louis CK is one of the best around

houston has a similar case.

We used to have the astrodome for baseball and football. when we got the texans, they built reliant, across the street, and we had enron minute maid field done. Reliant is across the damn highway - the proverbial street, so to speak - from the astrodome. The astrodome is still kicking despite the fact it's hardly ever used, parking for reliant is SHIT. It's still alive just because of its name sake and historical value.

I missed most of season 2 and it's on netflix now.

just finished the 2 parter "Duckling". probably the best episode of the show IMO. Really good jokes, really well told story.

Why is his ex wife black?

New ex wife, or is he ret-conning the whole "two cute white daughters" thing  :lol

Louie has said in an interview that he doesn't care much about continuity and he picks actors/actresses that are best for the role at the time. Also each episode can be viewed as a isolated story with no connection to any other (unless there is)

basically. he doesn't care.

Bump.

I just started watching S3. First episode was ok, had some funny bits and some forgettable bits. The reason why I wanted to bump this though is talk about the fucking crazy woman from the second episode. Now that I laughed at. The kids'* jokes was cute, and his friend's stand-up jokes were not bad. Overall it was a better episode, imo.

* Same white kids from before. Which makes his ex-wife being black seem even weirder.

The ex-wife being black is a joke. His wife before that was white. It's a joke.

Last two episodes have been average. I have loved every Louie episode until the last two episodes.

It was pretty beautiful and insightful about Louie not being able to get anybody to listen to him but then when he goes to talk to the one person who wants to talk to him, he freaks out.

I mean it wasn't hilarious because it didn't have to be. The fact that it could find any humor in that subject was the point.

I thought the eps with the crazy book chick were more insightful.

Of course, my favorite episode(s) of the series are the Duckling parts 1 and 2.
