Yar a wee bit south of me is kinda fucked apparently. Big chunk of DC is powerless.
-
Yup, sounds like the power is out all week. I'm going on vacation Wednesday, anyway. :spin
-
Fuck Pepco! It's going to take them a week to get the power back on for everyone. AND they mentioned theres going to be a price increase for customers.
As someone who has worked to restore power many times, no, fuck you. Some of the most stressful shit I've ever experienced in my lifetime was working on power restoration after storms, floods, and whatnot. Storm restoration is also extremely expensive.

American infrastructure is amazingly pitiful compared to Japan. In 10 years in Japan, despite crazy disasters, storms, typhoons, etc., I recall having one brown out... and it may have been a planned one. (Note: I was not in Kanto during the touhoku earthquake stuff.) In California, the power goes out if there's a light rain, and the internet disappears whenever some shit headed PG&E employee accidentally digs through a buried fiber-optic line. "WHOOPSIE! Sorry, but I left my competence in my other pickup!"

We're too busy destroying and then rebuilding the infrastructure of other countries.

Electric companies are insured for outages. They will still make their money. Sorry for your inconvenience.
