Where's my Lobo game? I'm surprised there is zero backlash against the ridiculous Deadpool milking that's been going on for years now.
Should have let Raven develop this. Also could have gotten non-Nolan North.
North IS the voice for Deadpool in recent games and animated features.
-
Can't really tell much about the gameplay but this looks...painful.
-
worst super hero ever
-
I got a Matt Hazard vibe from the trailer. And that comic XBLA from the splosion man people.
Problem with those games is how they tried to be funny and wacky but the gameplay was ordinary, and not very good at that. Also why God Hand is awesome.
-
damn, God Hand was awesome.
"lets make the zaniest possible version of Fist of the North Star, I know our team's last three games didn't make any money, but I feel really good about this one."
and the probably gone by now Capcom exec answers, "Yes!"
-
Meh Deadpool.
-
At least the Wolverine line was funny.

Saints Row 3 - Use the custom character creator to make Lobo, grab a hoverbike, and being wreaking havoc.
-
I was working in a comic shop in 1982, so... yeah.
In my defense, I was only 15.

Guy Gardner! Giffen-era Legion! SWOON

I'm a lobo fan and was born in the 80s :o

Can someone explain the venom hate to me? I see it everywhere, and since I know nothing about the character beside the capcom games and bad movie outing, I don't understand the beef.
-
Those are pretty damning reasons, I kinda hate him now even though I hadn't read a single comic he appeared in. I just find it funny that, yes, the only reason I was drawn to him in the first place, especially as a teenager, was because how cool he looked - especially in Capcom's fighters ("Oooh, a badass spidy!").
It's also funny how simple kids are; vilify a hero, hero-ify a villain, and you've got them hooked.

This is why professional wrestling works. And it speaks volumes about the males who are still into it as adults.
-
I just expect their grudges to match their motivations. For example I had no idea that Venom's entire beef with Spidy was due to losing his job. Like, calm down dude.
-
:rofl :rofl :rofl
-
Man, that's up there with Dr. Doom crying over 9/11.
-
man, there sure was some shitty writing in 90s superhero comics, i'd almost forgotten
i've only read one issue of deadpool, but i thought it was pretty clever, deadpool finds himself stuck in an actual 1960s issue of spider-man (#47)

That's one of my favorite Deadpool issue, the one before it with the great lake avengers was also hilarious :lol
-
I don't really want to get into this, but Venom isnt just Eddie Brock, he is also the symbiote. Part of his hate was for losing his job, but the other part of Venom's hate for Spiderman is because he rejected the symbiote. Isnt that the same reason Carnage hates Venom, rejection? Either way Venom is a pretty crap character.
Please note I am not really invested in Marvel or Spiderman and know next to nothing of the comic universe.
-
Venom isn't bad in concept. Distill it down and he's a bully. Well, the concept is bad. But the moments where Venom attacks Spider-Man's vulnerabilities are entertaining. The Spectacular Spider-Man cartoon handled it really well, down to how he's defeated. I agree that his popularity is because he's the 'bad-ass spider-man.' Also, his design increasingly became a stupid pile of muscles, teeth, tongues, ooze, and shit.
Speaking of shit, there isn't a defense for Carnage. Seeing the snes game at west coast video and the comic covers made him look cool. Then you read it and he's just awful. I have a comic post-maximum carnage where he breaks free by biting his lip, and there's this "not this shit again" feeling. Spider-Man shows up with a sonic blaster that's destroyed. And Carnage leaves...for some reason. They try and flesh out Kasady with stories of his youth. Eventually he confronts one of the person he knew as a kid and says something like "I DON'T NEED THE SYMBIOTE TO BEAT YOU." And when he reverts to human, Spider-Man comes out of nowhere and punches him in the face, knocking him out cold. OK.
-
I LIKE THE V.E.N.O.M COMICS, OSCAR. DON'T JUDGE ME.
Those comics are good because they're totally DIFFERENT from how Venom has been treated in the past. They're not shit!
I normally don't like Venom, but the recent V.E.N.O.M comics are pretty fun fare and a lot better than the main Spidey line which isn't exactly a high bar.
-
I don't know much about Carnage, but I love that panel of Sentry ripping him in half in space.
-
I don't know much about Venom or Carnage, but Maximum Carnage on the Genesis rocked.

How many symbiote character ARE out there?
-
Remember when Ryu and Ken were the most popular characters on Street Fighter and so Capcom decided to make Akuma, and then Evil Ryu;etc? It's kinda like that.
-
linkzeldaganon, I don't see him as a bully at all. Eddie certainly isn't and never has been, and, as nicely demonstrated by that embarrassing smear of David Micheline's shit I posted up there, fancies himself the innocent victim whose intentions to kill Spider-Man are along the lines of ridding the world of a great evil. He's a lot of things, but he's not a bully. In fact, I think he characterizes *Spider-Man* as a bully.
Won't argue with you about Carnage. Him and the 87 other symbiote characters created over the years demonstrate nicely why Marvel went bankrupt back in the day.
Himu-chan, I don't know much about the current Flash Thompson Venom. I doubt very much I'll buy any Marvel comics until Quesada is completely purged from Marvel.
I meant how he interacts with Peter/Spider-Man. Screwing with his life and such. Venom's good stories aren't just "Venom fights Spider-Man." It's Venom screwing with Peter's life and trying to deeply hurt him. And all the 'innocents' nonsense is there, but it doesn't stop Venom from kidnapping Peter's parents or w/e, even if he twists it as saving those people from Spider-Man.
I'm just saying Venom can work in good stories, while someone like Carnage is a lost cause.
How many symbiote character ARE out there?
Are you asking how many symbiotes are out there or how many characters using the symbiotes are out there?
too many is the answer to both
-
Shaka there is even a WHITE venom called anti-venom
-
And if we're getting into 90sisms in comics, I'll admit right now that I think the Scarlet Spider costume is still radical.
-
And I still am fond of the Spider-Man 2099 costume
-
Shaka there is even a WHITE venom called anti-venom
And he is Eddie Brock. Because the Venom symbiote is presently attached to Flash Thompson.
There are even She-Venoms, and they are horrifying.
the other month i was at my comic shop
saw this
(http://i.imgur.com/67GgJ.jpg)
i was horrified, and I even read (re: bought :yuck) the Spider Island story arc.
if anyone is interested in recent spidey comics, just stick to Ultimate, Venom, and the Cloak and Dagger mini series that tied in with Spider Island

:rofl

ramos sucks dick. i can draw better than you, cunt. GET OFF OF AMAZING.
-
jesus christ this symbiote cluster fuck is insane
-
WHY YOU BITCHES TALKING ABOUT SPIDEY ON MA DEADPOOL THREAD?
-
Ramos? It looks a lot like the style of the guy who does Invincible, but apparently it's not.
-
IIRC there's now only Venom (Flash Thompson), Toxin (now possessing Eddie Brock), and Carnage somehow/somewhere due to the "Minimum Carnage" storyline coming up. The other symbiotes were killed off.
-
oh god what?
Much like their "father" Venom, Carnage produced offspring: a third symbiote. Carnage felt only dislike and hatred towards his new spawn, even before he "gave birth" to it, both fearing that it could become much stronger than himself, and being generally disgusted at the thought of giving birth (due to Carnage's host, Cletus Kasady, being male). At the same time, Carnage's rival and "father" Venom became aware that Carnage was "pregnant" and sought out Carnage to talk about this new symbiote. Carnage had resolved to kill his spawn as soon as it was born. Venom was doing his best to protect the new symbiote, with the intention of raising it to become his new partner. Venom was also concerned that, as the 1,000th symbiote of their line, the new symbiote could potentially become psychotic and violent because of genetic breakdown.
After the birth of his "son", Carnage felt too weak to kill his newborn (due in no small part to his attempt to repress the birth after burying himself). Since he could not kill his newborn, he implanted it into Patrick Mulligan and fled, intending to kill him later and destroy the new symbiote when he was up to strength.
-
That is fucked up writing.
I've been looking at pictures of these symbiote characters, and it reminded me of a time when one kid would take something intended by an artist to be the epitome of badass, and challenging himself to make it even more badass (usually by contorting body features and/or adding spikes, flames, tentacles, etc). Only for *another* kid to come and try to one up him, and so on. It was a relay race of sorts that was popular among us Mortal Kombat fans, and it was the type practice that made most of us decent at drawing.
And these symbiotes, they feel the exact same.
-
Well they're all symbiotic alien monster goo-things, so that kinda makes sense.
The current Venom is different- the symbiote is drugged and kept under control. Looks different in appearance but the monster Venom comes out when control is lost.
They did the same thing during Dark Reign- Venom looked like Spider-Man in the black costume.

as bad as giraffe neck is, id rather see him do a series than land or potato man.
-
Greg Land :yuck
Who is "Potato Man?"
-
Frank quitely. He goes by king tumor in other parts.
-
His art is :yuck :yuck :yuck :yuck too.
-
fuck off Frank Quitely haters!!!
-
fuck off Frank Quitely haters!!!
ill stop hating when his people stop looking like they were ground zero at chernobyl.
-
fuck off Frank Quitely haters!!!
Yeah, I like Quitely, too. :rock
-
Nope. Quietly's characters are ugly as fuck.
I actually liked it when he was doing The Authority, but that was about it.
-
I'm no comic fan but even I had exposure to some of his work, mostly the New X-Men covers, and while I know what style he was going for I do think they're ugly. It's probably an acquired taste.
-
I love Quitely, all y'all haters can shut the fuck up. This is some God-tier action comics.
-
Whoa.
-
He can draw some animal heads and weird low-detail armor I guess, sure- his human characters are still ugly as fuck.
-
i don't think you know what perspective is and how hard it is to draw, lyte.
The way that spread covers a 3d space on a 2d plane is nothing short of spectacular. drawing is more than drawing humans. it is also about the method, the shapes, the perspective.
lol comic fans and their ideas of art
-
Quitely is great though he did have to grow on me a bit. Sure his people are ugly but he can lay out a story and draws crazy shit much more convincingly than most. His art also has a sense of three-dimensionality and volume that is pretty uncommon. It really works for me.
-
I especially love Quitely's art in this Batman story, which might be overlooked compared to some of his other stuff: http://scans-daily.dreamwidth.org/3310327.html?thread=113138679
-
lol "professional" artists and being uppity feggits
well, i'm defending a comic artist here because i like his work. i'm mostly talking about the fans :(

Those are okay, his Asian Emma Frost in a diaper and lost 90s dweeb Cyclops cover are ugly as intended, though.
-
You talking about the Morrison run of New X-Men?

Sure I do. But who gives a shit? Notice your response to me saying that Quietly draws really ugly fuckin' people is to talk about perspective. :lol
