Way I see it is, there are two great STALKER games, I wasn't expecting a STALKER2 after the closure, and this Bethesda sanctioned STALKER2, quality notwithstanding, is good news.

Something along the lines of Fallout 3/New Vegas, with a bigger emphasis on weapon/ammo management and a survival-horror bent, certainly would not be the worst thing ever.

so Bethesda bought was was left of Stalker 2, and didn't hire the Ukrainians that were making it to finish it, and decided to start over from scratch with their own tech and team.

is that about right?

They bought the rights to the sequel, that's all anyone knows right now. And even that is just a rumor.
