Title: QuakeCon 2012: Bawls, Carmack Ramblings, and No Doom 4

I'll be heading down to Big D tomorrow morning with some bros from Oklahoma. If Doom 4 shows up [it won't], I'll make sure to post here about how awesome it is. Dishonored is showing up, and in playable form, so I'll be sure to get some time with it and let you guys know how it is. Other than that, most of my time will be spend playing multiplayer games and ogling booth babes.

Maybe! Would be nice if they at least had a surprise announcement of SOMETHING, but it's probably still way too early in the whole thing for them to say anything at all.

Currently at QuakeCon right now, thinking about going out to the Pizza Hut truck and grabbing an over-priced pizza.

If I were there, I would walk around with a boombox blasting a sweet MIDI version of Doom E1M1

Played a little bit of Dishonored while the lines were still short. Here's what I saw:

-Game is mission-based
-Lots of abilities/powers [including summoning a hoard of mice to attack guards]
-You can summon a hoard of mice to attack guards
-Crossbow, pistol, knife were among the available weapons
-Lots of routes to use in levels, very vertical as well
-Lots of stuff to pick up [including things that just give you money]

It really does feel like a spiritual successor to the Thief series.

No Doom 4 at this year's QuakeCon, but Carmack said it's still in development and they're basically put everyone at the company to working on it.

I'll be honest, I had no idea that people still played/followed Quake enough for there to be a dedicated con about it.

Have you tried this thing called GLQuake? It looks totally sick on my 3dfx Voodoo!

A guy from Russia won $9,000 in a 1-1 Quake Live match last night.

QuakeCon is really an all-around id/Bethesda/PC Gaming convention, rather than focusing just on Quake.

the part about id, temporarily, leaving the mobile platform was really sad. Bethesda being mean. :'(

I listened to a bit of it earlier.  Carmack opens by apologizing for Rage PC  :lol

I got the game a week or two ago.  It's a really messy port, just trying to set it up and all.  Haven't started the game or anything.  And while looking online for solutions, I read that this is the patched/fixed version of the game  :S  Can't imagine how bad it was at launch.
