Title: Stringer Bell Steam backlog thread
Post by: Himu on August 04, 2012, 05:25:11 PM
Last night I completed Secret of Monkey Island Directors Cut.

Secret of Monkey Island: Directors Cut

The dish: Remake of classic adventure game. All puzzles are the same and there is no new content except for a modern art style and high definition music.

The low down: Pretty good remake. I abhor the ios version, mostly do to its atrocious control scheme, but playing it on pc gets rid of that complaint. It's just Monkey Island for the 2010's and the game is as ageless as wine.

Next game: Limbo

I waited nearly 12 months to complete RDR because I didn't want to start in case there was a PC verison. One of my worst decisions in a while.

pretty decent act 1 twist in Bully.

might as well throw this in here as well. i'm hijacking your thread himu. nothing you can do about it

I'm done with Shift 2. The enjoyment I had from racing early on is gone later in the game. The faster the cars get and the more frantic the races become, the less fun it is. It's weird that this is normally the inverse for nearly every racing game. In Shift 2, when the races get crazier you start seeing the issues with the racing model and the physics. I don't know if this is realistic but I don't enjoy it when taping the back bumper of a car leads the car to go flying into the air like nothing. It's just too hairy to enjoy. Plus the structure continues to annoy me. Dumping money into upgrades for a car only to never use it again is awful. I really liked racing my Lancer X, why can't I keep using it game? Solame.

Still Life isn't as good as I remember it. I'm going to put it behind and play something else instead. Just Cause 2 is on hold because I'm replaying SHENMUE 2.
