It's not a JRPG, really. More of a melee-based cover shooter. And it's pretty crappy.

Word of mouth is somewhat mediocre but we'll see. Hopefully there'll be some redeeming features of it. At least the story doesn't look (emphasis here) like complete crap or JRPG-emoness stuff.
And it's pretty crappy.
it's not an rpgHaha. I liked how I glossed over this in my reply to your first post. I'm an idiot. Anyway, the fact that you claim that this game that's marketed as a jrpg isn't actually one makes me a bit more curious. And also somewhat scared as the cover stuff has looked a bit silly. Either way I'll find out tomorrwo it seems.
I am liking it more than Xenoblade Chronicles.

This is just crazy talk.
Too much for you to focus on? :teehee
That's normal.
My impressions so far:
zzzzzzzzzzzz
... every JRPG character is optimistic with goals and dreams. Not in the one's I've played recently. They all seem to be moopy angst filled people.
I wish I had goals and dreams :'(I do I just don't do anything to actually work towards achieving them. :-[
Beat it today. Best Jrpg this gen without a doubt, well tied with Xenoblade.
Like what other good console jrpgs are there?Beat it today. Best Jrpg this gen without a doubt, well tied with Xenoblade.
Nope. lol

Resonance of Fate
Final Fantasy XIII-Obviously arguable.
Lost Odyssey
? Not much to chose from.

Arc Rise Fantasia is better.

Valkyria Chronicles, Nier, Blue Dragon. I still have to get around to TLR.Valkyria Chronicles is a good game obviously, but I don't consider it a jrpg. It's a strategy game first and foremost. Nier I don't like at all thanks to it's terrible combat and annoying characters. I understand a lot of people like it's story, but it did nothing for me. I also don't get how it's a rpg. I mean it's rpg elements are pretty weak and can mostly be ignored. Kind of like the Drakengard games. Blue Dragon has some pretty great graphics and a good job system but it's pacing and story in the end bored me so I've never finished it. Didn't care for TLR, it's battle system just didn't jive with me because of my own personal nitpicks. And the xbox version(the one available to me) runs pretty terribly.
Arc Rise Fantasia is better.I haven't finished it. It seemed pretty cool. I only got like 3 hours in so I don't have much to say about it.
Lol why qualify it with "console?" The best JRPGs this gen have been on handhelds. To cover my ass when people bring up handhelds. I don't really play handhelds, but I also don't see anything that intrests me on them. I do have a PSP and the rpgs that are new (well to me) that I have played are Ys 7, Trails in the Sky, Ys:Oath, Crisis Core, and Persona 2. Ys 7 is probably the best of the bunch with it's terrific combat, but I still enjoyed The Last Story better thanks to it's characters, story, writing, interesting battle system, and well it's art.
