Have you ever read through your old posts and realized how much you've changed? I'm sure I'm fucking different in many ways. So how the fuck do you see your old internet personas?

I think I'm probably better than I was over at GAF. The post you use to see from me was always my first post right off my mind. Now that's almost never the case. The first post you see from me is probably the 3rd revision of that post. The first two are almost always crabby asshole versions. Then I feel guilty and try to make a post like a fucking semi-intelligent human being.

I met Skidmark for the first time for instance over at GAF completely jumping down his throat because of my misinterpretation of his post and me being an utter tool to try to show him up. Looking back on stuff like that is embarrassing.  :-\

No, to me the biggest concern is the sheer amounts of time I've spent on forums over the years.  I know people will waste time but a few years ago I did a rough estimate and it was depressing.  Even if I spent just a single digit percentage of my time to something else other than the internet, like volunteer or write or something other than internet forums, that I probably would be much better off today.

Then I say, "Well, I'm going off forums" only to return a few hours later :fbm

However, there's a fine line - i'm personally sick of how boringly safe "opinions" are - what's the point of just being in the middle ground of "well i can see why... " and "oh, the financials of this are such that..."

and it's a trap that i have been falling into time and time again - just stick to what you believe in , but as a pro tip : if you have a preference - don't try to justify it with bullshit. Just wear it proud. If you prefer the PS3 to X360? that's just it - don't pull this "smoother texture" wank - just go with "look, i just fucking prefer it"

too many people try to justify preference, and there's no reason to really. So i personally find the people who come up with reasons that -just happen- to fit their company of choice the most annoying of fanboys ("Oh i hate 1080p anyways and 720p is amazing (As long as it's not above 30fps) - plus RRoD ate my sisters dog and made her pregnant" - DONT DO IT - just go with "i'm a Nintendo fan and i don't like Microsoft" - grow a fucking pair))

im in a similar situation.  most people i work with and hang out with are parents in their 30s/40s, and fuck no none of them are nerds.  the few nerds i still hang out with back in the day have mostly abandoned videogames because they cost too damn much, or they play different shit than i do.  i still like hanging out with the people i do, its just that ive gotten used to keeping that stuff out of rl talk because no one can relate.

but hey, seems like that's changing  a little now that the bore is creeping in to real life...

it's realism - games, music, films etc.... you have an emotional reaction to each of them and that's it. Other people are going to have similar experiences but different per game.

I remember back in 2010 on GAF some guy was gloating about how he was going to have an awesome time with his girlfriend on Valentines day. And he posted an image of her to "show off" I guess.

Oh yeah. There were some times where I was definitely a cunt, and some other times that I was a pussy. I was a worthwhile poster at times too.
