Last week, I was chilling at home and I noticed that the beauty spot (i think thats the english name?) that I had behind my left knee was bigger. It's not like you can normally see that area without doing some acrobatics or looking using a mirror, its at some shit-ass angle thats hard to see. I've had that thing since forever, as long as I can remember. Anyhow now it was much bigger, thicker, had a strange bumpy texture, and was now also had pink/reddish spots inside of it. My friend told me to get that checked ASAP; so the next morning I went to the hospital.
After waiting 3 hours (CANADAAAAA) i finally got to see my doc, who went :o :o :o as soon as he saw it. Since he's a general doc, he couldnt really give a full diag of the thing, but he refered me to a bunch of the most kick-ass montreal dermatologists and told me to get an appointement ASAP because its serious as fuck. Of course, all the public dermas were booked until 2013, so I ended up taking an appointement athe private clinic; the dude is a massive badass so I know i'm in good hands; but still I'll have to wait until the end of october to get an appointement.
I'm scared as fuck because from what I found online, on legit derma sites, the symptoms I have are pretty much sign that its at a very serious level right now. When the 'tumor' is developped enough, it can reach the blood stream and spread to the brain or liver... I have been having lots of unexplainable headaches for the past two years, and sometimes I feel dizzy for a couple of minutes until it randomly stops. The headaches happen every 3-4 days, and can last for a hour or two; the pain is fucking insane. It could also explains why I sometimes have memory problems. I can't remember stuff people tell told me 10 minutes ago sometimes..
I know that using the web to self-diagnose yourself can be pretty lol, but damn.. :( I hope its basically nothing and just a scare. But damn.. Those symptoms are kinda spot on :(
This sucks, I struggled too hard in life to have it end over this at my age. Fuck!

Stop looking online you are freaking yourself out.
And I came here just to look at your avatar. What a fine specimen.
-
I knew you would like it ;)
-
Dont spend the next month worrying about it, if you can. Worrying helps no one.
-
Good luck, dude. Hopefully all this turns okay in the end.
-
I looked it up on the internet and knee cancer is highly treatable. :heart
-
Good luck.
-
Yeash, good luck hopefully it's nothing too serious.
-
Be thankful you live in Canada. If you've had headaches for two years it's probably not related to skin cancer. When was the last time you checked your beauty spot?
-
1. Stop reading medical stuff online.
2. Good luck man, we're pulling for ya.
-
Good luck, bud.
-
Good luck dude.
-
Good luck and stay away from webmd and House reruns!
-
Jeez, Shuri. Be safe bro.
-
Shuri if you did find out you only had so long to live will you finally send me nudes?
-
Its prob nothing don't worry too much :)
Take if from a hypochondriac like me!

Double-down on point #1, and ditto on #2 from me.
Good luck, duder. Don't freak out; stress weakens your immune system.

My wife is not allowed to read any medical stuff online. Last time she did, she was convinced she had MS, even though she knew she didn't.
-
Yeah, my wife is a nurse, so she is somehow actually WORSE OFF for reading online. She's seen so much of it first hand, she knows it exists, and she's treated it... :'(
She saw my deviated septum (in my nasal cavity) and was like, "OMG YOU HAVE A BRAIN TUMOR THAT HAS TAKEN OVER YOUR WHOLE HEAD!!" :lol
-
I had osteosarcoma when I was in high school. No fun, but if you've good doctor's, a positive attitude (as hard as that can be), and get it taken care of as quickly and as efficiently as possible, you can make cancer your bitch.
-
BrandNew is a cancer survivor?
Now I'm even more attracted to you.
-

My thoughts as well. Stay away from webmd/easydiagnosis/etc. as far as possible. Nothing will screw your head up like diagnosing yourself online. My wife's a nurse practitioner and she's constantly having to talk people down from an emotional cliff because of something they read on the internet. Hell, she's even had to do it with me too.
Ignore the nonsense and stay positive. We're pulling for you.

I always thought shuri was a girl. Anyway chill dude.
Internet diagnosis is like that thing. I once cracked my skull on a serious corner of wood, I stumbled downstairs and googled it. And google said that I WAS GOING TO DIE, due to a blood clot in my brain, due to severe head-trauma. I pretty much passed out at that point. When I came to, my then gf hilariously thought that I'd been faking the passing out for the 'lols'. I was eventually attended to, they basically squirted glue into my skull.
So basically don't believe in medical rubbish on here.
-
Thanks a lot guys, you have no idea how much I appreciate this.
Only one of my friend knows about this, I don't know how to break the news to my family yet since its so 'early'. I was thinking about waiting after the doc's appointment. My father actually went through a bout against skin cancer himself three years ago and it was very hard on my parents. And yeah, i'm going to stay away from medical sites and try to stay positive. It's true that those sites always make everything sound lethal, haha.
Thanks a lot, homies!
edit: of course, demi ;)

Well, I think you should do it anyway. I'm here for you Shuri. Even in our IRC chats. We have history. Let's explore each other.
-
It's probably nothing.

I do that too, it's a horrible habit.
Hopefully it's nothing Shuri.
-
Chill out and stay away from medical sites. I've had so many embarrassing medical freakouts from self-diagnosing. :-\
-
i plugged my sore throat and headache symptoms into the NHS website and it came back with "You have the HIVs.... other possibilities: sore throat"
Good luck mang - if it's any consolation, i've had 3 cancer scares with moles and none of them amounted to anything. Good to get it checked though - catching it early is the key.
Keep us updated.
-
Yikes. Good luck.
-
Try to not worry yourself sick and hopefully this ends up being nothing serious.
-
good luck, shuri.

I just came back from the doctor, I was coming here to update, thanks for caring guys. My appointement was 2 hours ago
The doc checked it out. I have to get surgery ASAP to get it removed, and a biopsy will be done. They will dig out one inch of flesh behind my knee to make sure it has not spread inside. The doctor said that it was important to 'strike first and strike hard'. I have to call this afternoon to get the details for the surgery and etc.
I'll be going with the private sector on this one -- if i went to a public hospital, the doctor said I could wait at least *A YEAR* to get the surgery; and that it would be foolish to waste all that time. The doc said not to fuck around, because some people fuck around with this and they end up getting owned. My insurance doesnt cover private sector stuff, so I'll be paying it all by myself, but it should not be so bad. I think its going to be worth it.
I'll update when I'll get the date for the surgery.
-
Dang. :-\
Best of luck, Shuri.
-
Ummm so it's still not determined if its cancerous or not, then.
-
good luck, man
-
Yikes man. Hoping for the best for you. I think you're making the right decision to get it taken care of ASAP.
-
Hope it goes well.
-
Good luck!
-
Good luck, Shuri. :(
Ummm so it's still not determined if its cancerous or not, then.
It sounds like they already determined its a tumor, whether its cancerous or not relies of the biopsy.
-
Good luck.
-
Good luck, hope it just turns out to be a scare and the tumor is not dangerous in the end.
-
Yikes. Hope you get it out soon, man. Glad you caught it.
But what the fuck is a beauty mark?
-
But what the fuck is a beauty mark?
A mole.
-
Damn shuri, I'm sorry bro...
Your making the right decision by getting it taken care of as early as possible. Sometime ago the doc's found a aggressive tumor in my esophagus it was caused by scar tissue from having years of GERD. Come to find out it was cancerous. But due to the quick work of a good doctor with an eye for these things they took care of it before it was an issue, I've had no issues since except for some scar tissue left from the procedure. Cancer is serious shit!
