I promised a friend I'd get LoL sigh. DOTA games just don'tseem interesting to me. I will say this though: Riot and Valve are doing a great job growing their games as esports. It's already way more popular than SC2

I played the Smite beta. I don't really get into RTS clicky control styles, so I never delved into LoL or DOTA. I did enjoy SMITE until the whiny community made me realize I just wouldn't enjoy playing with others in the game. I am not sure what it is about MOBAs that attracts the worst personalities in nerdom, but it's the main thing holding the genre back from greater exposure.

According to Steam I put 36 hours into it, I don't regret it, but I think I'd rather focus on other MP games where you don't rely so much on other players for your enjoyment.
Fifa, COD etc.

I spend way too much time playing this damn thing. The in-game store is super-overpriced though, I wouldn't mind buying extra announcers or whatever but not at what they're selling them for.
We should get some Bore DOTA action going.

So, who do you guys main as? I usually got Lina, Luna, or Lycan, want to get better at Crystal Maiden but she really requires having good teammates to use properly.

I don't even get these kinds of games at all. Looks vaguely similar to an older RTS or something but I have no idea what's going on, and hearing talks about how they have a community that makes the average 7 year old Halo/COD/Live kid look as sophisticated as a German philosopher means I have no interest whatsoever. *shrug*

I would just as soon not ever play with anyone I don't know somehow from somewhere. Which has totally killed any interest I might have otherwise had in this or LoL.
Also, it seems like the people you play against are remarkably balanced individuals!

Who cares if you lose, sure it can be annoying to fight a losing battle but you still get experience and when all is off you can try some different things and see how it would work in future games.
In all honesty, the DOTA2 community can be bad, but the majority of random matches I play don't really have that many assholes. Yeah, some people take the game too seriously, and it sounds like you're one of them.
If you're not obsessed over winning every game and making sure your teammates do "proper" build orders and tactics then the game can be a lot of fun.

Ahahaha, Troll Warlord is the best character ever. Once he gets into late game with good items, the speed stacks are insane, he just walks up to enemies and mauls them. Put a daedalus and some other good equipment on him and there's nothing you can do, he'll just blind you and then use the melee bashes so you can't even get a hit in. Might end up as my new favorite character!

Tusk is out now! Best voice in the game, far as I'm concerned. Snowball seems to be great for taking out retreating heroes, guess he's more of a support character than an initiator.

Man, am I the only person who cares about this game anymore?
Just had one hell of an epic match, I used trusty Troll Warlord and literally carried my team to victory. My team sucked and we even have an early abandon, but I managed to get a few good ganks early on so could build up. I was more or less the only person who had enough skill to kill people, got some good items and a few level ups, I was way overleveled compared to anyone else in the game. The opponents kept doing rushes against us which was probably a good idea considering the circumstances, but I could get behind them and more or less murder the whole team with my teammates, giving them the necessary exp and gold, I also got to level 25 really goddamn fast. Game went on so long, we were way down, mid barracks down and towers taking damage, we push them out again. We just blitz the middle, I use Troll's ultimate and we just completely wipe out their buildings, able to get the ancient just as their heroes were about to respawn.
I had something like 33 kills by the end. Goddamn, I've had some crazy games but this was probably the most intense I've ever played, I was shaking. No way should we have won that game, it was 5 vs. 4 for like 90% of it and my teammates were getting wiped out left and right in the beginning. Have they added any tutorial stuff yet? When I downloaded it last year none of that was in yet

The game is still in beta, all of that tutorial and play with a mentor shit will be added when it finally officially releases, at this point it's really just for the hardcore fans. If any of you guys wants to learn the game I'll play with you and help you out.
They added the hero build thing, which is actually pretty useful for playing heroes that you're unfamiliar with.

They're focusing on the main game before dealing with tutorials and shit that most people in the beta probably don't care about. When the game officially launches and anyone can download it, it'll have all of those n00b-friendly features.

Still in 'beta', but it's really easy to get a key.
Valve just started adding tutorials and they have 12 heroes left to port. It'll probably hit full release when the next million dollar tournament happens.

This game is officially out apparently and had some new tutorial shit recently added. There's also guild support so we could start a Bore guild or whatever, I'd be down for helping new players.

I'm assuming that your account wasn't linked at first or something since your record is 88-67? You mention that you have over a thousand hours played so there's definitely a discrepancy in that.
Oh, and the later states of the tutorial go directly into the mechanics and goals of an actual match. It's not exactly perfect but I'm not sure why you're always blasting the damn thing.

I'm not a MOBA fan either lmao. sounds like maybe multiplayer just isn't your thing, which is really what these games are made for. you might be the only person on the planet who has willingly played almost 2000 hours vs bots.

I've played both DOTA and LoL. bots provide an OK challenge but they have all kinds of issues (http://dev.dota2.com/showthread.php?t=91166). the real fun imo comes from coordinating with your team and outsmarting live opponents. it's a much more rewarding experience overall. of course the game is going to feel shallow when you limit yourself to playing with and against AI, especially for such a crazy length of time.

I used to know people that only played LoL's coop vs AI mode. I don't get it. The AI is terrible in both games and not at all reflective of what an actual match is like.

I played a game with some people like that. It seemed like they had fun hanging out, and they were on Skype together during it, so it was more a social event than anything.
