Title: Gingerbread Cookie Shake at Burger King
Post by: ToxicAdam on October 23, 2012, 02:33:11 PM
I saw this on the marquee yesterday as I drove past. I swore off fast food about 5 months ago, so I need someone to go buy it and relate the experience.

Quote
The Gingerbread Cookie Shake, vanilla soft serve ice cream with gingerbread syrup, whipped toppings and crumbled gingersnaps

It's either going to be awesome or the worst thing ever. There is no in-between.

Looks interesting...

Burger King Japan is also jumping on the autumn season food bandwagon.  Behold the Pumpkin Burger.

Now that I think of it, why isn't gingerbread a common flavor of ice cream/shakes etc.

It should be there in the pantheon

Actually, a S'mores Milkshake would be pretty bad ass.

Chocolate ice cream, Milk + Marshmellow Creme as the shake. Topped with whipped creme, graham cracker crumbs and little drizzle of hot fudge syrup.

For Texas people, Braum's usually has Gingerbread ice cream around the holidays and will make a shake out of any of their ice cream flavors.

Really isn't very good though. Just tastes kind of like a burnt chocolaty flavor.

How is the syrup?

It's hardly noticeable; they blend the shake pretty well.  Just tasted like a gingerbread flavored shake, man.

Triumph lies. This is nasty. Tastes like syrup. Tastes like gingerbread syrup, but not like a good cookie-based shake.

Doesn't the blending all depend on which BK you go to? That's been my experience in fast food. They differ, sometimes greatly, from location to location.

Pretty much this.  I think I might have been the first person to order it at the BK by my house, because the lady left the counter to go make it, brought it back to me and like three people who work there watched me sip off it.  Then she asked me how it was and I said "really good".  I could see how if it was saturated with the syrup it would suck, tho.

Yeah, I couldn't finish mine. A lot of people were ordering it though, so they had practice.

I had the sundae version last night, I highly recommend it. I'm kind of surprised I've never seen something like this before tbh. The ginger bread goes perfectly with the ice cream; it's not too sweet, and instead gives it a nice zing. The syrup isn't bad either, although it gets a bit over powering once you're almost done and there's a bunch of it at the bottom of the cup; you can probably just stir the thing up to avoid that problem though.

I stirred mine a lot, because I like to get the whipped cream mixed in with the shake.  Maybe that's why I didn't have a problem with the syrup.

I don't *hate* whip cream, but I enjoy it more when it's mixed into the shake.  Gives it a nice, lighter, creamier taste. :drool

I put mine in the freezer for about 30m while I ate my food first; by the time I took it out the cream had settled into the ice cream perfectly :bow
