Title: Can anyone recommend free software to record gameplay on a PC?

Need to record some gameplay footage... any advice would be appreciated

http://www.fraps.com/download.php ? You will have to pay to remove the watermark. There is also some kind of length limit.

Watermark is a no no as I'm recording footage for an exhibition at the National Museum. I'll also need a few hours of raw footage to edit down...

Then I suggest you pay the $37 and ask the museum to compensate you for the expense.

This is something I've been messing with lately and, yeah, I've also come to the conclusion that Fraps is the way to go.

Fraps has been the answer for about a decade now. Kind of crazy that no one else has taken the throne.
