Since this game is going free to play tomorrow I have decided to give it a shot. I am going in to this hating Bioware for what they did to Dragon Age 2 and being generally jaded by their late games, being totally disenfranchised by Star Wars and burned out on traditional mmo's in general so it should be interesting.
First impression on boot up: the intro is better then the last 3 Star Wars movies, but it really feels like they needed to put in a Han Solo type there.
More to follow tomorrow when I start to play this game.

It does some neat things with the MMO genre, but not enough for me to forget that I don't really like MMOs.
-
Bought the game originally. Barely played it even though I payed for like 6 months or something because I kept thinking I was going to.
:(
Will probably try the free to play option just to actually see the content.

I put in a stupid number of hours with the game. It's what caused me to take a long hard look at my life and figure out I need to change in big ways. So hopefully you'll have a smiliar experience.
-
how did you get free-to-play early? or did you just buy the game
-
Imperial Agent. The only class to play.
-
What server you are on?
None of them. I played my free month and that's as much as I'll probably ever play.
-
Which server are you on borys? I havent started yet.
I'm def gonna play Empire, really curious if the story is any fun :)

Well I just downloaded the client and booted up. Will play some tonight if it works.

I already had this experience with vanilla WoW ages ago, I'm a different person now. I have like a 100+ days played in WoW. I really don't have the time or desire to ever do that again. Plus I don't know anyone who plays this.

IMPERIAL AGENT!!!!!!!1
It's a surprisingly good story.
-
Yeah thats the one Im thinking off. I've been following this game for ages before it came out. Had real high hopes at one point. Maybe it will still be worth it for a single playthrough with one char...
Are you still playing fist?
-
nope. i max level'd my character and stopped playing.
-
Try to login, server maintenance.
Good start.
-
Finally got to play for 2 hours today, as a Smuggler (already tried Imperial Agent too for 30 min, ace!) so here are some real impressions for people on the fence of this free game:
TRY IT!
So far the F2P is good, no real intrusion if you just want to run around and do SP stuff. The story is cool and Bioware, the gameplay is aaaight.
Try it!

12 hours in, have to say Im hooked and loving it. It really is Kotor 3,4,5 with some multi thrown in. I think Bioware just messed up the marketing, this should have been marketed as KOTOR with multi, not an mmo (although it is an mmo as well).
Its funny how the choices you make in this game seem to matter more in some aspects then in lets say Mass Effect, there is no reloading saves, so you choose and its set in stone.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that if you like SP RPG's or you should def give this a go. I don't think there are any other instances when you can play an rpg of this magnitude and production values for free.

They really don't, though, not in the overall scheme of things. It's all self-contained within each quest, with the only lasting consequence being each decision's effect on your Light Side/Dark Side meter. Outside of having some choice within the quests and lots of spoken dialog, the quests have you doing all the same kind of stuff you do in every MMO. I did enjoy TOR for a while, but when my free month ended earlier this year, I quit the game with no regrets and no intention of coming back.

Oh yeah I know they don't have any influence actually, but they feel more important due to their quick and permanent nature.
