Title: The Evilbore Gun Nut Thread
Post by: Van Cruncheon on January 09, 2007, 02:07:12 PM
I want a Beretta 391 semi-auto 12-gauge shotgun. Is there a better 12-gauge on the market?

Is this for home defense?  Then I recommend:

Remington 870 - specifically the synthetic stocked 18" with the 7 shot mag extension.  The police models are even better, but then you're talking about three times the price.

Mossberg 500/590 series - http://www.mossberg.com/products/default.asp?id=5 (http://www.mossberg.com/products/default.asp?id=5)

Semi-autos are nice, but there is a possibility they may fail to load in the most crucial of moments.  Stick with a pump.

If this is for hunting, skeet, collecting... then I have no idea.

It's for home defense and personal bustin' inanimate objects up amusement. My old man recommended the 870, too -- I'll look into it.

Children in house+gun= :-\

My dad started teaching me about gun safety when I was about four years old or so.  I never once had anything close to resembling a problem or accident with a firearm.

I have a 1957 Savage that I've had since I was 12.  It's old and the stock is nicked all to shit, but I love it.  I won two turkeys at a fire department turkey shoot with it, when I was a kid.

I have two Savage .22's.  I love them.  Great to just fuck around on, and they're dirt cheap.  I also have my Mossberg, my .30-06 and my .45.  Pics when I get home if you guys want.

yeah, my family has always owned guns and emphasized gun safety. I shot plenty of folks with my BB/pellet gun as a kid, though.

I guess it's a canadian thing , :-\ but wanting to own those kind of weapons just make me feel uneasily. Hell I know i'd be creeped out if one of my friend was found to own shotguns and berretas and all that hollywood crap at home. I could understand hunting rifles, but semi-automatic and all that jazz? I dunno  :-\

I think I'm gonna buy a rifle soon, not too sure about what caliber and such (not a 22) and after that a concealed weapons permit with a pistol or two
